Two Double Ups and Two Eliminations

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Elai Mazor
Elai Mazor

Vishal Ghoorbin lost a decent chunk of his middling stack when his KJ hit the top two pair. Gerrit van der Spoel got paid with AQ for broadway to climb the leaderboard.

Ghoorbin was then all-in for 68,000 with the AA and up against the KQ of Menesh Keshav. There was no upset on the J6523 board and Ghoorbin survived.

There was barely any time to breathe as Elai Mazor ran his KK into the AA of Giovanni Zanette. Chrissy Luyt complained that he would have won the pot with AJ if they had just flat-called preflop.

Over on table eight, moments later, Greg Tucker was all-in for fumes. He had lost a big pot to Brett Toker when the latter four-bet jammed pocket tens for 147,000 into his pocket kings. The 9x7x6x10x3x runout left Tucker in dire shape according to Max Deveson.

Tucker's subsequent preflop all-in for 17,000 in the hijack was looked up by Muzamil Gothey in the small blind and SM. The 975 flop saw Gothey check-call for 16,000 before they checked down the Q turn and 3 river.

Tucker showed his A6 and was eliminated, as Gothey had him beat with the JJ to score the final knockout on Day 1d.

Double Knockout for Bloom Reduces Field to Three Tables

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

It was a setup hand that unfolded over on table eight with El-Juan Du Plessis from under the gun and Eben Mare in the big blind ending up all-in and at risk. Mare was the second-shortest stack and at risk for 111,000 while Sean Bloom had both covered in an early position.

El-Juan Du Plessis: KK All in
Eben Mare: AJ All in
Sean Bloom: AA

There was no escape for either short stack on the 77554 runout and that brought the field down to the last 27 players.

"I folded pocket jacks," Yadav Mazor said, after he had apparently tanked for a long time in the small blind.

Zackey Improves on Every Street

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
David Ng
David Ng

Warren Zackey raised to 14,000 and then called the all-in of David Ng for 28,000 on the button.

David Ng: 77 All in
Warren Zackey: A9

The A439A board was an overkill, as Zackey improved on every street to knock out Ng.

Former short stacks Edgar Antezana and Ahmed Karrim were able to climb the leaderboard with now 30 players remaining.

Padayachee Flushed Away by Wiese

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Gordon Padayachee
Gordon Padayachee

Gordon Padayachee ended up getting his short stack in the middle after the 5229 turn and revealed the A10. That hand combination had no equity anymore, as Henk Wiese had improved to an unbeatable flush with the KQ to make the A river a formality.

Aucamp Eliminated by Ameer

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Joachim Aucamp
Joachim Aucamp

With the completed board showing 53247, Muddassir Ameer bet 6,000 out of the small blind. He was called by Kaelin Poovalingam before Joachim Aucamp pushed all-in for 59,000 on the button.

Ameer called and Poovalingam folded for the former to show 102 for a flush.

Aucamp had 86 for the nut straight and was eliminated. "Some people are gifted," Aucamp said on his way out while Poovalingam mentioned he folded ace-queen.

Adam Out After Clash With van der Spoel

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Rayhaan Adam
Rayhaan Adam

There was a squeeze to 48,000 in front of Rayhaan Adam in the hijack and Gerrit van der Spoel had then pushed all-in from the button for 96,500. All other players went out of the way and Adam asked for a count before he called with the marginally covering stack.

Gerrit van der Spoel: K8 All in
Rayhaan Adam: JJ

The K10226 runout left Adam flabbergasted and on fumes. He was eliminated shortly after in three-way action when Giovanni Zanette rivered a jack with the QJ.

Woolf Eliminated by Aucamp

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Adam Woolf was already all-in and awaiting his fate against two opponents. Once they had checked the 108436 river, Woolf rolled over his 83 for two pair. He was first shown J6 before Joachim Aucamp flipped over his cards one after the other.

The 10 gave him top pair and the A the nut flush, sending Woolf out of Day 1d.

SM Goes on Roller Coaster Ride

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Wesley Blom
Wesley Blom

Gavin Sardini check-called the A958 turn for 22,000 in a larger pot versus SM and then checked the 10 river. SM loaded up a bet of 52,000 and Sardini folded.

Soon after, SM built another big pot and bet the QJ5K turn. Wesley Blom moved all-in and SM sigh-called with the words "well done". Blom had spiked his gutshot with the A10 and SM could only chop with a ten, as his AA were suddenly crushed.

The river was the 3 and Blom doubled.

In the meanwhile, Hafiz Juma told Muzamil Gothey about his exit on a nearby table.

Ahmed Karrim
Ahmed Karrim

Ahmed Karrim was all-in preflop for the last 19,000 and looked up by High Roller champion Costa Giannakopoulos.

"I am ahead of you," Karrim said as he rolled over the 77.

"But I have king kong and flush," Giannakopoulos replied as he flipped over the K5.

The suited king got there on the 86654 board to knock out Karrim.
