Van Der Merwe Among the Latest Casualties
Level 16
: Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Ahmed Karrim had been eliminated from table 11 and another two players followed soon after. First to fall was Wouter Van Der Merwe, who was left with a severe short stack and his all-in was called by Jarred Solomon.
Wouter Van Der Merwe: A♠7♠
Jarred Solomon: 8♣8♦
"I am rooting for you," Solomon said with a smile on the face and added "let me win the big pots".
The A♣8♠4♦ flop left Van Der Merwe on the ropes and the J♣3♦ runout sealed his fate. Timothy Du Plessis followed right after when he was all-in for fewer than a full big blind.
