Two Pair Are good for Kalil

Level 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Elai Mazor and Gavin Sardini chipped up a lot over on table ten while Gareth Kalil and Benjamin Lingenfelder lost a big chunk. They were both part of four-way action to the A83 flop on which Kalil bet small in the big blind. Lingenfelder raised to 65,000 from middle position and Kalil was the only caller.

They checked the 2 turn and the 7 river completed the board. Kalil checked and Lingenfelder bet 56,000 only.

After short consideration, Kalil called and Lingenfelder instantly said "good call".

Kalil declared two pair. "Two pair is good," Lingenfelder replied and mucked his cards when Kalil showed the 87.

Ah-Nien Eliminated by Sardini

Level 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

A short-stacked Patrice Ah-Nien was all-in before the flop on the outer tables. He earned a single caller in big stack Gavin Sardini to head into the following showdown.

Patrice Ah-Nien: 98 All in
Gavin Sardini: A8

The Q107 flop was a tease for Ah-Nien with the open-ended straight draw but he bricked the 2 turn as well as the 5 river to bow out in 30th place.

Tebege Gets a Shove Through

Level 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

All other players had already gone on their dinner break but there was a little commotion on table 12.

Samuel Tebege had raised to 26,000 and Sugen Singh three-bet to 80,000. Keegan Pillay in the big blind had not seen the reraise and tossed in 26,000 for the call of the initial raiser. The floor was called and the chips stayed in the pot, he only had the option to call or fold.

The fold followed and Tebege then jammed for 288,000. Singh asked for a count and folded, getting shown the JJ by Tebege.

Action Resumes After Dinner

Level 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Nick Sissou slipped during the dinner break and has been brought to the hospital with either a dislocated shoulder or broken arm. All players were consulted whether or not the action should continue now or allow for one more hour with the former being the case.

Another four levels will be played for today or down to the final nine, whichever comes first.

Fourie Eliminated by Cherry

Okkie Fourie got one shove through and then jammed for 100,000 from under the gun. Norman Cherry called and so did Ronit Chamani. The two active players checked the 863Q2 board and Chamani tabled her AJ.

"Ace-jack is good," Fourie announced and exposed his slightly inferior A10. But it was Cherry who won the pot with the best ace, holding AK.

Hennie Appel
Hennie Appel

Hennie Appel clashed with Keegan Pillay when they got it in after the KK4J turn with both players holding near identical stacks.

Appel's K10 was pipped by a notch as Pillay held the KQ. The river was the 2 and both stacks were counted. Pillay doubled for 210,000 and Appel had 30,000 left behind, which he committed blind the next hand.

Marko Nortje raised to 40,000 and folded when Sugen Singh pushed all-in.

Hennie Appel: 102 All in
Sugen Singh: KK

The Q1087J board sent Appel to the rail in 28th place and there will now be a redraw of the final three tables.
