Da Matta Near the Top
Level 2
: Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Franco Da Matta had cracked the pocket kings of Sunelle Kirstein and Tanith Rothman let go of pocket aces in a big pot that left Kirstein very short. Soon after, Da Matta was gone from the table and Rothman was among four players to invest 1,000 prior to the K♦7♥6♣ flop.
Kirstein jammed the last 3,200 in the small blind and Rothman was the only caller as last player to act.
"Did you hit your king? I will need help," Rothman said when she made the call and tabled her 8♣5♣ for the open-ender. Kirstein was ahead with K♥4♥ and the A♦J♣ turnout on turn and river changed nothing.
