Appel Eliminated by Radloff

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Hennie Appel
Hennie Appel

Hennie Appel was carefully waiting for a spot to get his short stack into the middle and finally did so out of the big blind with 64 on a 964 flop for bottom two pair. Steven Radloff in the cutoff had the 77 and added more outs with the 5 turn. No straight came, but instead the 9 river gave Radloff the superior two pair to knock out Appel.

Jacobs Bounces Back With a Double

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

"I know you have a straight but I can't fold," Aidan Jacobs said after he had just scored a double trough Farisani Khosa and traded stack sizes with his opponent. The J8 of Khosa had indeed flopped a straight on Qx109 with J8 while Jacobs had outs holding the Q9 for top and bottom pair.

The 9 turn locked up the double for Jacobs and Khosa dropped below half the starting stack.

Brooks Gets Value From Geldenhuys

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Harold Brooks
Harold Brooks

Three ways to the 954 flop, Danny Dayani checked and Harold Brooks bet. Ben Geldenhuys then raised to 15,000 and Dayani folded, while Brooks called rather swiftly.

The 8 on the turn was checked by both and Geldenhuys then called a bet of 15,000 on the 8 river. Brooks tabled A9 and won the pot, as Geldenhuys' 94 was only ahead on the flop and turn but ended up counterfeited.

Khosa Wins Multi-Way Pot

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

In four-way action to the Q421010 river, Gilbert Tin Fook was about to bet and had already grabbed chips to do so. But it was not his turn yet, as pointed out by Farisani Khosa in the small blind who then made it 4,000 to go.

Tin Fook folded, as did Steven Radloff and Konstantinos Karagounis behind them.

"I probably saved you some chips," Khosa said with a grin on the face.

Pienaar Takes Big Pot Off Khan

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Keenan Pienaar
Keenan Pienaar

Keenan Pienaar was eliminated during the first few levels of the ZAR 50,000 High Roller and didn't re-enter. Instead, he jumped into Day 1a of the Main Event and ran up a big stack right away.

Towards the end of level three, he then check-raised from under the gun on the Q746 turn from 10,000 to 24,000 and Peter Khan called. Pienaar bet the 7 river for 30,000 and Khan reluctantly called within his thirty second shot clock.

Pienaar tabled 53 and won the big pot with his bottom end of the straight. "You must have had kings," he told Khan, who never showed his cards and instead sent them to the muck.
