DeCarolis Picks Off Perkins

Bill Perkins has been one of the most active players at the table, and he fired $15,000, close to pot, from the button on a {5-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop against two opponents. Only Al DeCarolis called, and both checked the {2-Hearts}. DeCarolis checked the {8-Hearts}, and Perkins quickly reached for chips and bet $35,000. DeCarolis immediately verbalized a call, and Perkins indicated DeCarolis had the winner. DeCarolis showed {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for bottom pair and took the $116,000 pot.

Perkins was once up a few hundred thousand, but he has dusted almost all of that back off is down to $295,000, a profit of $45,000.

DeCarolis Misses

Three players saw a {j-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{q-Hearts} flop for $10,000 apiece, and John Morgan and Al DeCarolis checked to Rick Salomon, who bet $17,000. Both players called, and the turn brought a {3-Diamonds}. Two more checks, and only DeCarolis called $33,000 this time. Action went check-check on the {5-Diamonds}, and DeCarolis showed {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a pair and missed flush. Salomon had {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and took the $150,000 pot.

Bellande's Stack

Jean-Robert Bellande's starting stack has been alternately reported as $500,000, $1 million, and now $500,000 again. We'll try to figure out the right amount on the next break. He's currently sitting with around $450,000.

Another Big One for Perkins

Jean-Robert Bellande raised to $5,000 and got three callers. He bet $11,000 on the {7-Hearts}{q-Spades}{9-Spades}, and Bill Perkins check-raised to $35,000 after one fold. The fourth player folded, and Bellande called. Perkins bet $50,000 on the {8-Spades} turn, and Bellande again called. Perkins' final bet was $75,000 on the {q-Clubs} river, and Bellande thought it over awhile. He looked very close to calling before finally deciding to let his hand go, giving the hefty pot of around $200,000 up to Perkins.

"Two black kings," Bellande said of his hand.

$200K Pot for Perkins

Brandon Steven raised to $7,000 in the hijack and got a call from cutoff Bill Perkins. Back to the sleeper straddle, where Rick Salomon reraised to $27,000. Only Perkins continued, and the flop came {8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. Salomon checked and called $25,000. He checked and called another $50,000 on the {j-Clubs}, and both checked the {2-Hearts}.

Perkins showed {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and Salomon couldn't beat it, sending the $200,000 pot to the hedge fund manager.

Salomon Rolling

Four players saw a {10-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop for $9,000 apiece, and Bobby Baldwin fired out $30,000 from the mandatory straddle. Only preflop raiser Rick Salomon called (on the button), and the two checked the {7-Diamonds}. Baldwin bet $45,000 on the {6-Clubs} river, and Salomon quickly threw in a sizable raise to $155,000. Baldwin thought for a couple of minutes and mucked, and Salomon is up to nearly $900,000 now.

Morgan Loses the Min

John Morgan opened to $11,000, and Bill Perkins called from the mandatory straddle. Perkins check-called $25,000 on the {5-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} flop, and both checked the {2-Spades} and {2-Clubs}.

Morgan showed {a-}{q-} for top-top but Perkins had checked {5-}{5-} and failed to induce a bet.

"Wow, you have radar," Bellande complimented his neighbor.

"Well, what the hell is he calling with?" Morgan said. "There's nothing out there."

"Note to self, when playing John, bet your own hand," someone said.

Morgan's down to $650,000, while Perkins is over $500,000.
