Lahtinen Gets Paid by Laihinen

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Jari Lahtinen
Jari Lahtinen

Pasi Laihinen opened for 7,000 from under the gun and got calls from three players including Jari Lahtinen from the hijack, Mathias Siljander on the button and Aki Pyysing in the big blind.

The action checked to Lahtinen after the {10-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{k-Spades} came on the flop and he bet 12,000. Siljander and Pyysing quickly folded before Laihinen called.

Laihinen check-called a bet of 28,000 after the {5-Diamonds} came on the turn. The {6-Diamonds} completed the board on the river and Laihinen checked again. Lahtinen paused and his hands were visibly shaking as he reached for chips before deciding on a bet size of 62,000. Laihinen quickly called and got the bad news that his opponent flopped the nuts with {a-Spades}{j-Clubs} before he tossed his hand away.

Meanwhile, at another table, Kimmo Kurko was eliminated leaving just 27 players left in the field.

Kimmo Kurko jammed for 36,000 from under the gun. The action paused on Kim Lindstrom in the hijack for about a minute before he opted to make the call. The rest of the players folded and Lindstrom had the advantage turning over {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} to Kurko's {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}.

Kurko got out of his seat but didn't turn his back completely on the table after Lindstrom nailed top pair on the {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} flop. The {q-Spades} on the turn gave him three outs for the save.

The three-outer came for Kurko with the {10-Clubs} spiking the board on the river to save him from busting short of the money and to double up his stack.
