Initially, the dealer announced a seat open on table 12 and Adam Gamsy was left shaking, though he didn't exit but doubled through Stephen Courtney.
"Such a sick table ... again," Jaco Mouton added as it was another setup hand that had unfolded. Gamsy and Courtney had both flopped a set and turned a full house on the Q♥J♠7♦J♣4♦ board. The Q♦Q♠ of Gamsy were best versus 7♣7♥ and he doubled for 65,000 on the river.

Renier Britz raised to 18,000 and Rajeev Poonhath called in the big blind. They checked to the 9♣3♦2♣3♥3♣ river with some table chat included. "Do you have a small ace?" Britz asked and Poonhath replied "I have a big ace".
Poonhath was first to act and bet 8,000, Britz folded the K♦J♦ face up.
"I had you beat anyways then, I wanted to put it in preflop," Poonhath declared and exposed his A♠10♣.

With the money bubble on Day 1b in sight, the last chance for players to take a stand is the heat 1c which is currently in level six. The field has reached 78 entries and some 69 players remain. It comes as no surprise that many of the late 1b casualties jumped right in there such as Bernard Gossard, Kiran Moodley, Simon Solomon, Ronit Chamani and Marko Nortje.
Compared to the 2023 edition which attracted 210 entries, the attendance is way beyond that with up to 258 total entries now. Another three levels of late registration remain for Day 1c, after which the level duration decreases to 15 minutes each.
Greg Mokgoathleng raised to 12,000 and Jaco Mouton called. Gerhard Oosthuizen then three-bet to 40,000 only for Mokgoathleng to shove for 83,000 total. Mouton quickly folded and Ooosthuizen asked for an exact count. He used one time bank and then folded the A♣K♠ face-up, Mokgoathleng flashed his 10♥10♠ for what would have been a classic flip.

Three ways to the K♥7♦5♥ flop, Didier Mery checked out of the big blind. Gregory Maistry bet 13,000 from under the gun and Gerhard Oosthuizen in the cutoff was the only caller. Maistry checked the 6♠ turn and Oosthuizen bet 15,000 to win the pot.

Rajeev Poonhath raised from under the gun and Michael Franken called in the big blind.
On the Q♠5♣4♣ flop, Franken checked and Poonhath bet 20,000 with the words "maybe now you believe me".
What followed was the check-raise to 55,000 by Franken and Poonhath called after checking the stack of his table neighbour on the other side of the dealer. Franken bet the 7♥ turn for 90,000 and Poonhath folded the Q♦J♦ face-up.
Franken first flashed the 4♥ followed by the Q♥ to rake in the pot moments later.
In the next hand, Adam Gamsy min-raised to 16,000 but folded when Jaryd Jardien jammed the button.
