Welcome to the 2025 THMC Cape Town Million
For the second year in a row, The Hendon Mob Championship returns to Cape Town at the end of a busy year for live poker's pivotal tracking platform. Held in cooperation with the SunBet Poker Tour, it teams up with the richest live poker series in South Africa and heads to the GrandWest Casino by Sun International.
The 2025 The Hendon Mob Championship Cape Town Million is one of the key events on the schedule for the series, which already kicked off on November 19, 2025, and features an extensive schedule with ZAR 10 Million in overall guarantees. At least ZAR 1.25 Million will be paid out in this event, as that's the guarantee set by the tournament hosts, but it would be no surprise if the figure is eclipsed by a significant margin.
Throughout Day 1a and Day 1b, a total of 150 entries emerged, with 20 players punching their ticket for the money stages. Robin Kayalsum topped the opening flight with a stack of 400,000 while Jason Zulch claimed 325,000 to his name, which is good enough for third place on the leaderboard so far. Another two flights are scheduled for today, with Day 1c kicking off at noon local time followed by Day 1d at 6 p.m. local time.
With a buy-in of ZAR 8,000 (~ USD 450), the 2025 THMC Cape Town Million is among the more affordable tournaments of the series and will attract many well-known names of the close-knit South African poker community. Defending champion is Muaaz Gani, who cut a heads-up deal with Sugen Singh at this very venue one year ago out of a field of 299 overall entries. One of The Hendon Mob qualifiers for this event reached the final table back then, as well as Austria's Florian Bock finished in a very respectable third place for ZAR 197,000.

Three The Hendon Mob qualifiers are in Cape Town this time, including Jeff Duddy. Niklas Nyman and Vegard Granli. Duddy won THMC Malta in 2024 and jumped into the action in the opening flight already after reaching a final table in a side event a few days ago.
There are a total of four starting days spread across two days with two flights per day, all of which play down to their respective money bubble, with one in eight entries getting paid. All players receive 30,000 in chips and have 30-minute levels at their disposal. In the earlier flights, the duration remains the same throughout, while the late evening flights move to a 15-minute clock once the late registration has closed after the completion of level 11.
The survivors of all four Day 1s then return on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, with a cash prize already locked up to hopefully go all the way and claim the trophy. On the final day of the tournament, the level duration increases to 40 minutes each, and you can follow all of the live action right here on PokerNews as well as on the SunBet Poker Tour YouTube channel.
