Tang Brutally Eliminates Harrington

Level 15 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

JB Harrington was all in for his tournament life, two away from the bubble with the {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} vs the {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} of Ian Tang.

Everyone was pulling for Tang to shrink the field by one more but the flop came {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{3-Clubs} to hit gin for Harrington. The turn was the {j-Hearts} and the river was the {q-Diamonds} to give Tang the boat and brutally end the night for Harrington.

Day 1h of Event #6: 1M GTD Mystery Bounty is through for the night after 11 hours of play. The final flight attracted 151 entries, which played down to just 19 players (12%) at the end of the day.

Bagging the chip lead was Ian Tang, who finished with a humongous stack of 964,000, which is the second-largest amongst all eight flights. He started to sun run late in the night as he took out several players and hit multiple huge value hands which his opponents could not beat, including one where he rivered queens full to crack flopped trip aces.

Second in chips at the day’s conclusion was Chan Pelton with 749,000. He won a key hand where his wheel straight took down the set of aces of Andres Abad to win a huge pot. It was not all bad for Abad however as he was still able to find a bag despite the cooler.

Sitting third in chips was Brandon Lulov with 682,000 and Jason Gooch was the only other player to eclipse 600,000 bar with his stack of 675,000 as his night included the elimination of none other than Doug Polk who decided to max late reg and ran his stack up to a decent amount before eventually succumbing to Gooch.

Of the nineteen players who bagged, Barbara Sargent was the only women to do so with a stack of 204,500.

Jonathan Pardy (43,500) and Leonardo Valenzuela (39,000) were the most relieved people in the room when the bubble was popped around 4 a.m. local time as they will be able to advance their few big blind stacks onto Day 2 in the money.

The nineteen players will move on to Day 2, on Sunday and join all the other advancing players to make for what promises to be a scintillating day of mystery bounty action. The prize pool, payouts, and seating chart will be posted prior to the start of play

PokerNews will be on hand for Day 2 of this event as well as for the first flight of Event #8: 750K GTD NLH
