Day 1b of Event #4: $400 NLH $500,000 Guaranteed has now come to an end here at The Lodge Poker Club in Round Rock, Texas after almost eight hours of play. Day 1b attracted 177 entries and ended with 22 players remaining (12% of the field).
Emerging as the chip leader at the end of the night was Justus Glover of Pelham, AL who bagged a stack of 381,000. Glover caught the attention of the room late in the night with his play as well as with his loquacious and friendly table demeanor as he started to accumulate chips and win several key hands to catapult him to the chip lead.
Joshua Hernandez finished shortly behind Glover, second in chips with 359,000. Kevin Garosshen was third with 268,000 at the end of play after he won several key hands late. Darren Mize (230,000) and Richard Zepeda (203,000) rounded out the top five stacks in Day 1b.
One of the most well-known players among the 22 to advance to Day 2 was Nick Pupillo, who is the owner of almost $4 million in career tournament earnings. He was steady in chips throughout the day before finishing with a stack of 138,000, good for 13th in chips.
The 22 players who remained alive at the end of the night will now join the 17 from Day 1a and advance onwards to Day 2, which is on Sunday at 2 p.m. local time.
