Day 1b of Event #4: $400 NLH $500,000 Guaranteed has now come to an end here at The Lodge Poker Club in Round Rock, Texas after almost eight hours of play. Day 1b attracted 177 entries and ended with 22 players remaining (12% of the field).

Emerging as the chip leader at the end of the night was Justus Glover of Pelham, AL who bagged a stack of 381,000. Glover caught the attention of the room late in the night with his play as well as with his loquacious and friendly table demeanor as he started to accumulate chips and win several key hands to catapult him to the chip lead.

Joshua Hernandez finished shortly behind Glover, second in chips with 359,000. Kevin Garosshen was third with 268,000 at the end of play after he won several key hands late. Darren Mize (230,000) and Richard Zepeda (203,000) rounded out the top five stacks in Day 1b.

One of the most well-known players among the 22 to advance to Day 2 was Nick Pupillo, who is the owner of almost $4 million in career tournament earnings. He was steady in chips throughout the day before finishing with a stack of 138,000, good for 13th in chips.

The 22 players who remained alive at the end of the night will now join the 17 from Day 1a and advance onwards to Day 2, which is on Sunday at 2 p.m. local time. If any player wishes to play another Day 1 flight they can and attempt to get another min-cash with their best finishing stack advancing to Day 2.

"It's Hard to Take Out This Good Looking Mexican!"

Level 14 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

With play on the stone money bubble, John Reyna was all in and at risk with the {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} in a classic flip vs the {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} of Kevin Garosshen.

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{k-Spades} to hit Reyna. The turn was the {9-Hearts} and the river came the {a-Hearts} to confirm the survival of Reyna on the bubble.

"It's hard to take out this good-looking Mexican!" yelled Reyna, which has become his catchphrase in the last couple of levels as he has said it each time that he has won the several consecutive all ins to survive and build his once short stack into a respectable one.

Glover Sends Smeriglio to the Brink

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Action was picked up on the river with the board reading {8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{7-Clubs}. The pot was close to a meaty amount of 70,000.

From the big blind, Justus Glover bet 50,000. Rocco Smeriglio went deep into the tank to consider the bet. He toiled with the decision for quite some time, before eventually the clock was called by the dealer. The floor came over to count it down and Smeriglio did not act before zero to make his hand dead as he continued to stew it over in his head.

Smeriglio showed the {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}, Glover did not show and collected his new winnings as he continues to surge with Day 2 on the horizon.
