Day 1b of Event #4: $400 NLH $500,000 Guaranteed has now come to an end here at The Lodge Poker Club in Round Rock, Texas after almost eight hours of play. Day 1b attracted 177 entries and ended with 22 players remaining (12% of the field).

Emerging as the chip leader at the end of the night was Justus Glover of Pelham, AL who bagged a stack of 381,000. Joshua Hernandez finished shortly behind Glover, second in chips with 359,000. Kevin Garosshen was third with 268,000 at the end of play after he won several key hands late. Darren Mize (230,000) and Richard Zepeda (203,000) rounded out the top five stacks in Day 1b.

One of the most well-known players among the 22 to advance to Day 2 was Nick Pupillo, who is the owner of almost $4 million in career tournament earnings. He was steady in chips throughout the day before finishing with a stack of 138,000, good for 13th in chips.

1% Equity Connects For Hamacher

Kevin Hamacher

Zachary Vuong was all in with {5-Spades}{5-Hearts} against the {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} of Kevin Hamacher.

The flop was bingo for Vuong as it came {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds} to give him a full house and give him an over 99% chance to win the hand.

The turn was the {q-Hearts} to give Hamacher some slight hope and the river remarkably came the {q-Clubs} to crush Vuong in a brutal 8 in 1,000 chance.

In a preflop all in, Richard Partee was up against the odds holding the {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} against the {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} of Kevin Garosshen.

What little hope Partee had was soon violently extinguished as the flop came {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} to give Garosshen quad aces.

The turn and river were a formality as Partee walked away.

Joshua Prupes moved all in from early position, Meghan Smith jammed as well from the cutoff. Justus Glover was in the big blind and had both players covered, He considered it a moment before calling.

Meghan Smith: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Joshua Prupes: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Justus Glover: {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

Glover had the chance to take out two but was well behind. The flop surged him into the lead as it came {7-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{k-Spades} with a seven in the window. Glover stood up ready to let loose a celebration as the turn was the {6-Diamonds} and the river came the {5-Hearts} to confirm the winning hand for Glover.

"I told you I would bust him in 10 minutes!" exclaimed Glover with a smile, referring to the fact that he had indeed said that very thing not long ago. He shook Prupes hand who took it in good spirits as Glover added even more to his growing stack with the double knockout.

Dwayne Carreon moved all in preflop over a raise and a call. His first opponent called as did Darrin Mize.

First Opponent: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Darrin Mize: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Dwayne Carreon: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Carreon had the largest stack and could take out two players if he were to hit a queen but it was the player holding jacks with the lead.

The flop came {8-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. The turn was the {6-Clubs} and the river was the {k-Hearts} to spike the best hand for Mize who pumped his fist as he won the big pot to bust the player holding jacks and take a chunk from Carreon.

There were four hands turned over with chips being counted out as action was retold to PokerNews.

Four players went to a flop after a single raised pot preflop and the flop came {2-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. All four players ended up all in. Shlomi Shriki was the shortest stack and he had the best hand with the {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} flopped set.

Augustin Cabrera Jaramillo was in the lead for the side pot with the {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}. Salim Salem had the {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, while Jason Purcell had the {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}.

The turn was the {7-Hearts} and the river came dramatically the {q-Hearts} to give Purcell the best hand and deny Jaramillo the massive pot.

A long debate ensued over the exact all in amounts and the floor was called to hash it out as the players adjusted to their new chip counts following the big hand.
