Wilson's Mistake Leads to Monster Pot

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Jeremy Dresch
Jeremy Dresch

A player shoved all in for 23,500 under the gun and was called by his neighbor. Action folded around to James Wilson in the cutoff, who shoved all in for 155,000. The blinds folded, and Wilson turned over his {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}. The only problem was, the player who had called the all in had yet to act. He had {8-}{8-}, and he called, slightly covering Wilson, who said he didn't see that the player had called. Now, he was stuck with the sevens against the eights and the short stack's {a-}{q-}.

The dealer spread a flop of {3-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{7-Clubs}, and fate decided to forgive Wilson as nothing else of note emerged from the deck and his set held up.

Jeremy Dresch busted out a short time later from the same table.

Pupillo Busts Alexander, Dahlin With One-Outer

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Matt Alexander
Matt Alexander

We found a three-way all in brewing at Table 3 between Nick Pupillo, Matt Alexander, and Adam Dahlin. The latter had 50,000 or so on the button with {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}. Alexander had {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} in the big blind, while Pupillo covered both by far and had {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}.

Someone asked for a sweat, as Alexander looked to be in complete command, but instead of a mere sweat, Pupillo took a hammerlock on things as his only out flopped: {3-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. The {7-Spades} turn and {2-Hearts} river meant he knocked out two dangerous players.

Hodge Doubles Through Dykhouse; Hartmann Misses

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Tony Hartmann
Tony Hartmann

Mark Hodge just doubled up with {a-}{a-} against Dan Dykhouse, who flopped top pair kings with {k-}{q-} and didn't improve.

At the neighboring table, Tony Hartmann got the last of his chips in with an open-ender but bricked off against top pair.

Barnard Doubles Up

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Joe Barnard bet 8,000 on a flop of {7-Hearts}{3-Spades}{a-Clubs} from the small blind, and the big blind raised to 20,000. Barnard called, and the turn brought {k-Spades}. He checked, and his opponent put him all in. The total was around 70,000, and Barnard called it off.

Barnard: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Big blind: {4-Spades}{2-Spades}

Barnard's opponent had tried barreling him off with the turned combo draw, but now he needed to spike something. The {4-Hearts} gave him only an inferior pair on the river.

Lawrence Doubles; Hanner Busted

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
"Minnesota" Jon Hanner
"Minnesota" Jon Hanner

Jeb Johnson jammed from an early position for 67,000, and Jim Lawrence called off his 42,000 in middle position.

Johnson: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Lawrence: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

Johnson expressed his disgust at running into aces, but a {5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop gave him more equity with a straight draw. A {5-Spades} turn and {k-Diamonds} river did not bring the outs he needed, though.

At another table, "Minnesota" Jon Hanner busted out.

Carlton Gets a Lucky Turn

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Todd Breyfogle
Todd Breyfogle

Todd Breyfogle bet 10,000 on a {3-Spades}{a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop and was called by Everett Carlton in the cutoff. On the {9-Spades} turn, Breyfogle shoved in for about 40,000 and was snap-called.

"You have a nine?" he asked, turning up {a-Spades}{q-Spades}.

Indeed, Carlton had {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, and he was fading aces and spades. The {2-Diamonds} river was safe, and Breyfogle told him nice hand.

Olson Doubles Through Greenagel

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

On a {9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop, a player bet 11,000 from middle position and saw Greg Olson raise to 25,000 in the cutoff. Judd Greenagel shoved all in from the small blind, and the bettor folded. Olson put his stack of 94,000 in, and the cards were turned up.

Greenagel: {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Olson: {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

It was a huge flop for both, and the {4-Clubs} kept Greenagel in front. Greenagel needed one more brick, but it was an {a-Hearts} river, completing Olson's flush draw.

Fielder Bombs Away on Johnson

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Jeff Fielder is off to a good start on Day 2.
Jeff Fielder is off to a good start on Day 2.

Jeff Fielder opened for 7,000 in middle position and was called by cutoff Aaron Johnson and big blind Jon Hanner. The flop brought {4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, and Fielder bet 11,500 after Hanner checked. Only Johnson called. Johnson called another barrel of 15,000 on the {k-Diamonds} turn, and a {3-Hearts} finished the board. Fielder bet 20,000, most of Johnson's remaining stack, and Johnson thought for a couple of minutes before dumping his hand.
