Caspers' Bullets Good

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Tyler Caspers checked and called 2,100 on a board of {6-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{10-Diamonds} against a player on the button. The {8-Clubs} was the river card, and Caspers check-called 3,600. The player on the button showed {k-Spades}{q-Spades} for top pair, but it was no good against the {a-Clubs}{a-Spades} of Caspers.

Caspers took third in the first Mid-States Poker Tour event of the year.

Players are on a 10-minute break.

Boone Makes Hodge Call it an Early Night

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Jim Boone dragged a pot worth about 20,000.
Jim Boone dragged a pot worth about 20,000.

An early-position player opened to 1,200 and was called in two spots before Mark Hodge shipped all in for 6,950 in the small blind. The big blind folded, and the opener called, as did Jim Boone. The two active players checked down the {k-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{q-Hearts} run out, and Boone showed {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}. Much to his amazement, he had both opponents drawing nearly dead the whole time, as each held {7-}{7-}.

"Ship it!" Boone shouted, standing up and spreading his arms wide.

Hodge collected his belongings and headed out, having exhausted his two allotted bullets for the day.

Vang Induces Bluff

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Kou Vang bet 525 from under the gun on a flop of {5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. His lone opponent called from middle position, and Vang checked the {7-Diamonds} turn. He called 1,200, checking the {3-Spades} river. The middle-position player bet 2,300, and Vang tossed out a calling chip right away. His opponent shook his head, saying he had king-high and turning over {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}. Vang's {a-Spades}{7-Spades} was good for top pair and the pot.

"Ace-seven under the gun," Vang's opponent muttered.
