"The Dream is Over"

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Erik Silgman

"The dream is over," Erik Silgman told us as he walked by our desk. The poker dealer from Ho-Chunk Gaming Wisconsin Dells had qualified for the Main Event in this morning's $250 qualifier, and while he got a full day of play, he ultimately fell short of Day 2.

Silgman, who had been grinding a short stack all day, explained he shipped his last 8,000 all in preflop holding his "favorite hand," the {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. Unfortunately for him, a player woke up with {10-}{10-} and he was in need of some help. A nine-high flop paired Silgman, but he needed even more help to stay alive. The turn delivered him a flush draw, but the river left him hanging.
