The Michigan State Poker Championship starts today. The Mid-States Poker Tour is making it's second 2015 stop at FireKeepers Hotel and Casino in Battle Creek, Michigan. In May, Harry Tisdale, aka Mark Rubenstein, bested a field of 614 players and won $142,637.

The buy-in for this $200,000 guarantee event is $1,100. There will be three Day 1 flights, the first of which begins at 4 p.m. local time today. Players may rebuy once each flight. The second and third flights will start at noon Friday and Saturday. Each Day 1 flight will be 14 40-minute levels and all remaining players will come back at 11 a.m. local time Sunday and play down to a winner.

The MSPT has been running several satellites over the past week, and already has almost 200 players qualified for today's Main Event. The previous FireKeepers winner, Tisdale, won after qualifying through a $65 super satellite, then won his seat in one of the many satellites MSPT ran leading up to the previous event.

The MSPT started in 2009 with a goal of catering directly to poker players with deepstack structures and affordable buy-ins. In its sixth season, the MSPT's events keep growing. The multiple Day 1 flights were added to the structures to accommodate more players as the events have grown in popularity.

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be on hand to capture action from the Main Event all weekend long, and that means players will have the opportunity to use the My Stack app to update their hands and chip counts straight into the live blog.
