Day 1b chip leader Derek McMaster opened for 53,000 under the gun and received a call. Tyler Holbrook then called, and did the big blind, and four players took a flop of . The big blind checked, McMaster continued for 120,000, and after the in-between player folded, Holbrook called.
The big blind folded and it was heads-up action to the turn. McMaster shipped, and Holbrook snap-called off for 380,000.
McMaster:
Holbrook:
Both players held a pair of kings, but McMaster held the better kicker. That said, Holbrook had a club draw. Unfortunately for him, it didn't come in as a blanked on the river. Holbrook exited in 25th place.
Just before the break, Cuong Van Nguyen opened for 45,000 from the cutoff only to have Ross Reichert three-bet all in from the small blind. Paul Hoch then called off for 124,000 from the big blind, Nguyen folded, and the cards were turned up.
Hoch:
Reichert:
Reichert was ahead, but not after the flop delivered Hoch a flush. Neither the turn nor river helped Reichert, and he sent over some chips.
On a flop, George Clarke led out for 100,000 and Joe Huang moved all in for just under 400,000. Clarke, who didn't have much more than that, thought for a bit and then called.
Clarke:
Huang:
Huang flopped top two, but Clarke went with his straight and flush draw. The turn completed the former, and the blanked on the river to send Huang out the door in 23rd place.
Action folded to Julian Levy on the button and he open-shipped for 557,000. Corey Zedo, who had 570,000, was in the big blind and liked what he saw as he made the call.
Levy:
Zedo:
Levy was left shaking his head and calling for a jack. The flop was no help, but the turn did give him a flush draw. Despite his plea for a spade, the useless bricked on the river to send him out the door in 22nd place.
