Garrett Runs Down Barnard

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Ernest Garrett opened for 400 in the cutoff and Matt Kirby called on the button. Joe Barnard three-bet to 1,600 in the big blind, and both opponents called. Everyone checked the {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}{j-Spades} flop, and Garrett bet 1,400 on the {6-Spades} turn. Only Barnard called. Both checked the {3-Diamonds}, and Barnard revealed {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}.

"Two pair," Garrett announced showing {6-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for bottom two.

Heilman Holds Despite Dead Cards

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Justin Heilman, pictured at this event last year.

A player in middle position made it 700 to go, and one player called from the button. Justin Heilman three-bet to 3,700 in the small blind, and the first player announced a call with his T5,000 chip already in the middle. He had his hands on his remaining chips, and the player on the button mistakenly thought he was all in and folded {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} face-up. The two active players saw a {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop, and Heilman put his opponent all in for the remaining 1,600 or so and the player shrugged and called.

Heilman: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Amazingly, Heilman held the other two nines, but he would be stone dead if his opponent turned a pair. That didn't happen thought as the {5-Hearts} turn was followed by an {8-Hearts} river.

Gerleman Busted

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

We found Duane Gerleman exiting his chair and it was for good reason as he got the last 6,000 or so in on a {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop with {10-}{9-} against an opponent holding the {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for the nut flush. No miracle came for Gerleman, and he's down to the final bullet.

Players are on break for 10 minutes.

Fink Misses, Busts

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Daryl Oppelt bet 1,000 on a {7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop out of the big blind. Opponent Mark Fink called from early position, and Oppelt bet 2,000 on the {9-Clubs} turn. Fink raised to 5,000, and Oppelt shoved all in, putting Fink at risk for 13,000 or so. Fink quickly called.

Fink: {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Oppelt: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Fink's flush draw had improved to a combo draw on the turn, but he bricked as the {3-Diamonds} fell.

At another table, Ernest Garrett busted.

De Silva Flops A Monster

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Sam De Silva had position on a lone opponent on a final board of {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades}. The first player bet 3,000 into a pot of about 5,000, and De Silva thought for a bit.

"Flush draw?" he asked.

When the player didn't respond, De Silva splashed out 7,000. His opponent called, and De Silva showed {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for tens full. The other player had {6-Spades}{2-Spades} for trips.

"I didn't put you on the deuce," De Silva commented.

Heilman Coolers One

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Three players put in 3,200 apiece on a board of {2-}{6-}{q-}{4-}, and a player who meant to raise on the turn but didn't put in enough fired out about 6,000 on the {4-} river. Justin Heilman put him all in for what looked like about 8,000 more, and the player sighed, stared and the ceiling with chips in hand, and reluctantly dumped them in.

Heilman showed {6-}{6-} for sixes full, and his opponent flashed {2-}{2-} for a lower boat.
