Former MSPT Northern Lights Champion John Hayes

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

John Hayes may have an MSPT title under his belt already, but what separates him from the other MSPT champs is how long it took them to win.

Hayes is known for winning his title after the fastest final table in MSPT history. In 2013 he won in less than two hours, knocking out the final two players on the same hand.

No Contest

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
  • Thao Thiem raised preflop to 1,200 and got two callers. But when he led out on the {7-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop, both players folded and Thiem won the pot.
"I had it that time!" Thiem said as he collected the small pot.
  • A player under-the-gun raised and another player called before Todd Hagan called from the big blind. The flop came {10-Spades}{k-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Hagan checked. The original raiser bet 1,600. The third player folded and Hagan called. Both players checked the {5-Clubs} on the turn and the {4-Clubs} on the river. Hagan won the pot with {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and his opponent showed {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}.
  • A player in early position raised before Thomas Peebles three-bet to 2,500. The player folded {a-}{8-} face up and gave Peebles the pot.

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Rich Ryan and Donnie Peters discussed the big winners from the 2015 WSOP Main Event on last week's podcast, but neglected to mention the biggest winner, the U.S. Government. They break down some of the massive tax payments the IRS will receive from the November Niners, and discuss the online gaming bill moving swiftly through the Pennsylvania State Legislature.

Don't forget, you can call the show and leave a voicemail at 774-77-PNPOD.

Kurfman Goes Vang

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Kou Vang and John Kurfman just got all in with one other player. After it was all said and done, Kurfman would triple up and eliminate one player. Vang would be left with just less than ten big blinds.

The board read {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Vang bet 3,100. The next player in raised to 6,600 and Kurfman made it 12,500. Vang tanked for a little then shoved, the original raiser called and so did Kurfman.

Vang showed {6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and was on a flush draw, with a pair. The raiser had {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} and Kurfman had {3-Spades}{5-Hearts} for a flopped wheel. The board didn't bring a flush and Kurfman would win the hand.

Mark Kroon is among the chip leaders, after being down to less than 4,000 early in the day.

Bruce "Hammer" Swart proudly exclaimed that he is the green-chip leader, but that might not be true. The floor is about to color up and one player at every table is buying up greens. He does have a lot though.

Stone Doubles Through Johnson

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Nick Stone reraised Aaron Johnson all in preflop. Johnson initially made it 1,700 to go before Stone shoved his remaining 6,275 into the pot going all in.

Johnson thought for a few moments and then settled on calling and showed {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Stone showed {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and began standing up as though he expected to lose.

The board came out {q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Stone took his seat after he doubled up.
