Three-Outer Dooms Alexander

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Matt Alexander
Matt Alexander

Matt Alexander shoved under the gun for about 420,000, and Zach Shelton called.

"Nut no pair," Alexander said, turning {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} before pointing at Shelton's cards. "Ace-queen."

He was right, as Shelton showed {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}.

The {a-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop was good for Alexander, but he cursed after the dealer dropped the {q-Diamonds} onto the felt.

"King!" he called in vain as a {5-Clubs} paired the board, busting him.

Marvin Roelke busted at the other table.

Alexander Survives

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

After losing a series of medium-sized pots, Matt Alexander jammed his last 99,000 from the button in an unopened pot and was called by both blinds. The two checked down {4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{q-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}, and Thomas Peebles tabled {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}.

"No good," Alexander said, pointing.

Zach Shelton showed {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for sevens.

"No good," Alexander repeated, showing {q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for top pair.

Hayes Eliminated

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
John Hayes
John Hayes

After running up his short stack, John Hayes shoved from the button with {a-}{10-} over a Zach Shelton cutoff open, and Shelton called with {a-}{a-} when action folded back to him. Hayes was dead by the turn.

Stone Busts Engelbrecht

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Craig Trost raised to 56,000, Will Stone shoved all in from the cutoff, and Jim Engelbrecht followed suit for about 370,000 on the button.

"No longer interested," Trost said after the blinds folded.

Engelbrecht: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Stone: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

Engelbrecht's only hope was a chop after {9-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Spades} were the first four cards on board, but a {7-Hearts} ended that.

Rogowski Done at Break

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Andzrej Rogowski was eliminated just before players left for a 10-minute break.

Two Quick Doubles for Hayes

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Right after doubling up with {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs} against {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}, John Hayes shoved for 179,000 over a Chris Karambinis open for 45,000. Karambinis called with {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and was dominated by Hayes, who had picked up the hand he just vanquished, {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. The {k-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} flop was followed by an {a-Spades} turn, meaning a chop loomed if a big card hit. Luckily for Hayes, the {2-Hearts} arrived to leave his nine playing.
