Holm Doubles Through Kellogg

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Patrick Kellogg opened for 19,000 and saw Mike Holm jam for 45,000 in the cutoff. The big blind tank-folded.

"I don't think I can fold this crap," Kellogg said.

"That's good," Holm said with a laugh.

Holm: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Kellogg: {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

"Live ones," Kellogg said hopefully, but a run out of {6-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{k-Hearts} was dead for both players, leaving ace-high best.

Hodge Doubles Through Rosheisen

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Mark Hodge
Mark Hodge

Mark Hodge got lucky to survive as he just doubled up with {a-}{q-} against the {a-}{k-} of Ken Rosheisen, taking the pot despite being dominated preflop.

Hodge followed a similar path at Mid-States Poker Tour Running Aces, coming into Day 2 with a massive stack only to bleed most of it off in the early going before coming charging back for a final table run. We'll see if history repeats.

Shelton Gives Alexander a Chuckle

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Zach Shelton check-called 15,000 from Matt Alexander on a {9-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} flop, and he check-called another 28,000 on the {8-Clubs} turn. Shelton switched gears and came out firing with 40,000 on the {a-Hearts} river, and Alexander folded quickly.

Shelton showed {6-Spades}{5-Spades}, causing Alexander to chuckle.

Holloway Busted

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Chad Holloway
Chad Holloway

PokerNews Senior News Editor Chad Holloway said he opened to 11,500 with {a-}{q-} only to have Ashor Ochana shove for 137,000 from middle of position. Action folded back to Holloway, and he called for all all but 21,000 of his chips. Ochana tabled {7-}{7-}, and it was a race, that is until Holloway found himself nearly dead on the {7-}{9-}{9-} flop. The turn and river blanked, and Holloway sent over the majority of chips.

In the next hand, Holloway shoved his short stack all in under the gun holding {5-}{7-} and the player on the button called with the {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. The board ran out clean and Holloway fell about 10 spots shy of the money.

Players are on break for 10 minutes.
