Vang Busts Jivkov

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Big blind Kou Vang checked on the end in a small pot with the community having come {4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Former Mid-States Poker Tour champ Nick Jivkov bet 1,500, and Vang put him all in for 8,300 more. Jivkov thought for a minute before flipping in his T5,000 chip, and Vang turned over {4-Spades}{4-Clubs} for a boat.

At another table, John Hayes entered the tournament.

A player under the gun shoved for 10,500 and got one call for slightly less, and Nick Pupillo picked up {k-}{k-} and put both at risk. He was against {j-}{j-} and {a-}{k-Hearts} and managed to hold despite three hearts hitting the flop.

Holloway Busted

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Chad Holloway moved in on the turn for 13,925 on a board of {q-Hearts}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, and his opponent, who had checked, thought it over for a minute or so before calling.

Holloway: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
Opponent: {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

Holloway saw he'd been outflopped and was left with two outs, missing as a second nine hit the river to eliminate him. He headed for the registration desk to reenter.

Alexander Shows a Big Bluff

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Matt Alexander
Matt Alexander

In a raised pot, Matt Alexander bet 1,700 from late position and saw Ernest Garrett check-raise to 4,000 on a {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades} flop. Alexander responded by putting Garrett, who made the final table of Mid-States Poker Tour Running Aces a couple of weeks ago, all in for about 16,000 total. Garrett hemmed and hawed, putting his face in his hands.

"You got kings?" he asked. "You just have an overpair or do you have that seven?"

He mucked what he claimed was aces, and Alexander quickly flipped {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for an airball before dragging the pot.

"Great bet, dude," Garrett said.

Kroon Holds

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Mark "P0ker H0" Kroon bet 4,150 on an {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop against two opponents, one of whom folded after some thought. The other, who had checked from under the gun, waved his hands and indicated he was all in, and Kroon snap-shoved some chips in, tabling {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. He was in good shape against {9-Hearts}{8-Spades} for a straight draw, and the {7-Clubs} turn was a blank. The {9-Clubs} river gave Kroon's opponent only an inferior two pair, and Kroon had his opponent's [19,000 or so covered.
