Welcome to Day 1a of Mid-States Poker Tour Meskwaki Casino

It's been nearly two months since the last Mid-States Poker Tour Main Event was held at FireKeepers Casino in Michigan, and starting today at 4 p.m Central time, the tour will once again kick off at one of it's most popular stops, Meskwaki Casino in Tama, Iowa. In March of this year, Chad Willett bested a field of 371 players at Meskwaki to take home the top prize of $96,760, and the coveted MSPT trophy.

Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler's approved blind structure will be used as players start the day with 20,000 chips at 50/100 blinds, with new levels beginning every 40 minutes. Each player is allowed one reentry per starting flight up to the end of the break after Level 9 (400/800/100). Kessler himself has confirmed that he will be in attendance today for Day 1a. As will MSPT pros Nick Pupillo, and Matt Kirby .

Leading up to this main event, the qualifiers have already broken previous records which is most likely a strong indication that this is sure to be another huge turn out and a great pay day for the last person standing.

Stay tuned to PokerNews as we bring you all of the action packed live updates as the MSPT kicks off the second half of this season.

Ace King Good for Roger Martin

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Roger Martin has called preflop from the cutoff, and both blinds opt to play as well.

Both blinds checked, and Martin bet 400 when the {k-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop arrived. The small blind called, and the big blind folded.

The small blind check called a bet of 500 when the {8-Spades} turn hit.

Both players opted to check the {5-Spades} river.

The small blind showed {k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, but was outkicked by Martin's {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}.
