Nick Pupillo, Peixin Liu, and Dan Handrickson have all opted to use their one time per flight rebuy. All three have just rebought into the field in hopes of making it through on Day 1a.
On a board reading , the player in the big blind bet 2,000. The button, former MSPT Champion Andy Van Blair, thought for a moment before tossing in the chips to make the call.
The big blind turned over for queens and eights with a king kicker. Van Blair slowly mucked his cards.
There were 6 players that limped in to see the flop. Action checked to Dan Hamm in the cutoff, Reggie Powell called on the button, and the player in the big blind as well as middle position both called as well.
All of the remaining four players checked the turn.
When the river hit, the player in the big blind shoved all-in for approximately 7,000. The player in middle position quickly folded, as did Hamm. Powell thought for a brief moment before eventually folding his hand.
Hamm said, "Ugliest river card I could have seen," shaking his head.
Terry Ring raised to 1,200 in middle position, and only Sherry Hammers called from the hijack.
Ring checked the flop. Hammers fired out 1,200. Ring thought for a moment, nearly folded his hand, then decided to grab chips to make the call. After staring down Hammers he ultimately mucked his face up. Hammers showed having flopped top pair.
Matt Alexander and Matt Kirby continue to hold strong, both with above starting stacks.
Unfortunately, Nick Pupillo did not have such luck. He has been eliminated from play having fired both of his bullets for 1a. But according to his Twitter feed, he plans to reenter again tomorrow in flight 1b.
