Zhou Forces Out Semanisin

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Songjie Zhou defended his big blind against an early-position open from Miroslav Semanisin and the two saw a flop of {9-Hearts}{a-Spades}{8-Spades}. Zhou checked and Semanisin fired out a continuation-bet of 25,000. Zhou check-raised to 60,000 and Semanisin thought for about 20 seconds before matching the bet.

The turn came {3-Diamonds} and Zhou kept his foot on the gas, sliding forward a stack of T5,000 chips, 25 tall, for a bet of 125,000. Semanisin went into the tank for longer than his previous decision and then let his hand go, earning Zhou the pot with his turn bet.

Cotolan Edges Raghavan To Double

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Alin Cotolan in Day 1c action
Alin Cotolan in Day 1c action

Alin Cotolan had opened to 32,000 from middle position and was three-bet for stacks by Ravi Raghavan, who was in the big blind. Cotolan called.

Alin Cotolan: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Ravi Raghavan: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

Cotolan would need to improve to stay alive and would do just that on the turn as the board ran out {3-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} to give him a pair of aces and bring him over a half-million in chips along the way.

Berk Doubles and Cripples Dunn

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Michael Berk
Michael Berk

Michael Berk opened to 30,000 from middle position and was called by Rob Dunn on the button and Rob Wazwaz in the big blind. The flop came {q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and Wazwaz checked to Berk, who made a continuation-bet of 65,000.

Action was then on Dunn, who thought for a few moments and then announced he was all in. Wazwaz quickly folded and Berk just as quickly said he called.

Michael Berk: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Rob Dunn: {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Berk's top pair, top kicker was way out in front against Dunn's king kicker to go with his top pair. The turn {3-Spades} and river {6-Spades} changed nothing and Berk scored the double, leaving Dunn with just 15,000 behind.

Raghavan Four-Bet Rips

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Ravi Raghavan opened the action with a raise to 25,000 from the hijack and received a call by Steve Belland, who was in the cutoff. The next two players folded before Wai Ngai announced a three-bet to 120,000 out of the big blind.

Raghavan found action back on him and he slid the rest of his chips forward to shove all in. Belland quickly folded and Ngai asked for a count, which was totaled to be 494,000, or another 374,000 to call.

Ngai went into the tank for close to a minute, counting out his T25,000 chips. In total, he had about 370,000 left, meaning the call would be for all of his chips or close to it. He eventually opted to let his hand go and Raghavan took down the pot.

Berk Showers Nguyen; Doubles Heath

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Hand #1: Albert Nguyen ripped in his last 224,000 from middle position and was called by Michael Berk, who was in the cutoff.

Albert Nguyen: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Michael Berk: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}

Nguyen got a little help on the flop but was unable to improve any further as the board ran out {5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} to result in his elimination from the tournament.

Hand #2: On the following hand, Berk three-bet from the hijack to 75,000 over an early-position open and Gerald Heath cold four-bet all in from the small blind. Action got back to Berk and he called.

Gerald Heath: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Michael Berk: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Just as it looked like Berk would score two eliminations in as many hands, as the flop and turn came {j-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades}, the river {k-Clubs} gave Heath a pair of kings and scored him the double.
