Steele Eliminates Weiss

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Walter Weiss
Walter Weiss

Pat Steele was in the small blind and saw action folded around to him. He completed to put action onto Walter Weiss, who went all in from the big blind for less than 10 big blinds. Steele thought for a few moments and then tossed out chips to make the call.

Walter Weiss: {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Pat Steele: {q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

Weiss was primed for the double but his forecast quickly loomed dark as the flop dropped {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts}. The turn {6-Diamonds} and river {2-Clubs} were of no help to him and he was left with no chips left to play, resulting in his elimination from the tournament.

Birov Shoves on Komberec

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

There was around 17,000 in the pot on a board of {a-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades} with heads-up action between Leo Birov in middle position and Ken Komberec, who was in the hijack.

Birov shoved all in and the dealer totaled the amount to be 23,500. Komberec went into the tank. While thinking about his decision, Komberec said that he didn't understand why Birov didn't believe him. He then stated that if Birov had the ace, he wouldn't be going all in.

After close to two minutes, Komberec peeled up his cards again so that they were visible to Birov, who looked over at them and nodded as Komberec sent them to the muck.

Durkin Wins a Flip To Double Before Break

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Players are on their final 10-minute break of the night.

Shortly before going on break, Josh Reichard pumped it up to 5,000 from middle position and action made its way around to Bradley Jansen, who called from the small blind. William Durkin was in the big blind and squeezed, three-betting all in for 33,300. Reichard shoved over the top of him and Jansen folded, sending the two off to the races.

Josh Reichard: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
William Durkin: {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

The board ran out {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{q-Hearts}, giving Durkin a flush on the river to leave him with the best hand, resulting in a small fist-pump as the pot was sent his way.

Herstein Calls It Off

Level 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Gary Herstein
Gary Herstein

Ken Komberec was in the small blind and went all in after action folded around to him. Gary Herstein was in the big blind with slightly less chips.

"Did you look?" asked Herstein.

"I did," affirmed Komberec.

Herstein looked back at his cards and then exclaimed that he had a hand that is probably supposed to lose. He then focused on what Komberec had, assuming his hand was completely random. The thought process circled back to his decision and he threw in his chips to call all in.

Ken Komberec: {q-Spades}{5-Spades}
Gary Herstein: {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Komberec confirmed that his hand was "supposed" to lose more times than not, but that was not likely to be reality. Herstein seemed genuinely shocked, asking how he could possibly be behind with nine high.

The flop came {2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}.

"How do you like that flop?" asked Komberec, seeing Herstein pick up eight more outs in addition to his two live cards. Herstein displayed his satisfaction.

The turn fell {6-Diamonds} to fill up Herstein's straight, scoring the double along the way as the river {6-Spades} came to complete the runout, leaving Komberec short as Herstein found a double.

Camby and Reichard Climbing

Level 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Pat Steele opened to 6,500 from the hijack and was called by Paul Camby, who was on the button. Action went heads up to the flop, which came {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{a-Spades}. Steele made a continuation-bet of 6,000 and Camby called.

Action checked through the turn {4-Diamonds} and river {2-Spades} to take the hand to showdown.

Camby tabled {k-Hearts}{10-Spades} upon checking back and it proved to be good as Steele sent his cards to the muck.

The pot brings Camby up to 279,000, though he still appears to be slightly behind Josh Reichard, who has chipped up to 291,000 since the break.
