The all-in player needed to stay ahead in the coin flip situation and was unable to do so as Thurlow hit a ten on the flop on the runout of , sending his opponent to the rail and bringing him up to 185,000 along the way.
There was 27,000 in the middle in a heads-up pot between Gary Ewald in early position and his opponent in middle position. The flop read and Ewald had checked and was facing an all-in bet of 30,000. He thought agonizingly for about a minute and then called.
