Phan Set Up; Heads to Re-Enter

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

Donnie Phan in past poker action.

In one of the first hands after he late registered the tournament, Donnie Phan got involved in a big hand against MSPT Hall of Famer Rich Alsup.

It happened after the under-the-gun playe opened and the Rich Alsup, who was on the button, three-bet. Phan looked down at the {k-Clubs}{k-} in the small blind and promptly four-bet. The UTG player folded, Alsup called, and the flop came down {q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

Phan checked, Alsup bet 4,000, and Phan check-raised all in for 15,000. Alsup snap-called and Phan discovered the bad news.

Donnie Phan: {k-Clubs}{k-}
Rich Alsup: {7-}{7-}

The case {7-} on the turn left Phan drawing dead, and to rub salt in the wound a {k-} appeared on the river to give him a losing kings full.

Phan headed to the cashier to re-enter the tournament.

They then welcome guest Alyssa MacDonald, who talks about her deep run in the $10K Heads-Up Championship.

Lightning Strikes

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante

After a player opened for 700 from middle position and Max Young called, Josh Lightning came along from the button. Matt Kirby did the same from the big blind and it was four-way action to the flop, which came down {10-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

Three checks put action on Lightning and he bet 1,000. Kirby folded, the original raiser called, and Young got out of the way before the dealer burned and turned the {4-Hearts}.

The original raiser checked and then folded when Lightning upped his bet to 2,000.

Brinn Tips His Cap

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante

Cody Brinn raised to 700 under the gun and MSPT champ Jonathan Kim called two spots over. John Cap was next to act and he popped it to 2,600, which cleared the field back to Brinn, who called.

Kim got out of the way and it was heads-up action to the {7-Spades}{j-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop. Brinn checked and then called when Cap continued for 4,000.

On the {10-Hearts} turn, Brinn checked again and Cap tossed out a trio of gray T5,000 chips for a bet of 15,000. That was approximately how much Brinn had behind, and he thought long and hard before giving it up.
