Nguyen Wins a Flip To Stay Alive

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Kenny Nguyen
Kenny Nguyen

Kenny Nguyen jammed all in from middle position and the player on the button reraised all in, showing {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} after the players in the blinds folded.

"I got that beat!" said Nguyen, turning over {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. "Keep the flop low!" he added.

The dealer mostly complied, bringing a flop of {j-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}. The turn {10-Hearts} added four more outs to his opponent's total.

"Low!" he added again, and the dealer complied once more as the river came {2-Spades}. "Lucky me. Thirty-three K I believe."

Nguyen was right and his opponent paid it off to result in Nguyen earning the double to stay alive.

Pope Spikes a Double

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Philip Pope
Philip Pope

Todd Sladek raised to 5,500 under the gun and Phillip Pope three-bet shoved for 38,000 in the hijack. Action folded back to Sladek and he dropped in calling chips.

Phillip Pope: {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Todd Sladek: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Pope found help on the flop {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. The turn {k-Spades} further decreased the number of cards that he needed to fade on the river, which came {k-Clubs} to finish the runout and earn him the double at Sladek's expense.

Lombardo Puts An Opponent To the Test

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Brandon Lombardo was on the button and flat-called a middle-position raise to 6,000. Action went heads up to a flop of {a-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and the original raiser made a continuation-bet of 10,000. Lombardo called.

The turn was {9-Spades}. Lombardo's opponent checked and he slid forward a stack of blue chips worth 5,000 apiece, more than enough to put his opponent all in for their last 10 or so big blinds.

About a minute went by and the player in middle position decided not to commit the rest of his chips, sending his cards to the center instead to result in Lombardo taking down the pot.

Bennett Makes Three Nines

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Jon Bennett
Jon Bennett

Jon Bennett raised to 6,000 under the gun and saw action fold around to Thai Dinh in the small blind, who called. The big blind also called and the three saw a flop of {4-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. Action checked to Bennett, who made a continuation-bet of 6,000 and received only a call from the big blind.

The turn came {7-Spades} and the big blind checked again. Bennett fired a second barrel of 17,000 and received another call, bringing the river {9-Clubs}. The big blind checked for a third time and Bennett flung four T5,000 chips forward, which were matched without much time elapsing.

Bennett tabled {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for trip nines and his opponent sent his cards to the muck.

Buckley Chips Up on Last Hand

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

On the last hand before break, DJ Buckley was seen raking in a pot with his hand {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} tabled on a board of {6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}.

"Runner runner" said his opponent on his direct left, unthrilled about losing a pot before he walked away from the tournament area.
