Java Wins One With a Set

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante
Nipun Java
Nipun Java

Nipun Java had bet 1,800 from early position into a pot of around double that size on a board of {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Action was heads up and his opponent was on the button found a call.

Java showed {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} for a flopped set of treys and his opponent mucked.

"Eighteen hundred," said the dealer to the player on the button, who threw in the appropriate amount of chips, and Java took down the pot for an early increase to his stack.

Eyster Forces Out His Opponent

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

A pile of chips well over 5,000 was already in the middle on a board reading {10-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{2-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Clubs} with heads-up action between the under-the-gun Kevin Eyster and the player on his direct left. Eyster had made a bet and received a call, and his opponent was in the process of receiving change for the blue 5,000 chip he called with.

Nearly 15,000 was then in the middle as the two players went to the river {4-Hearts}. Eyster bet another 9,100 and his opponent went into the tank, thinking for around a full minute before letting his hand go.

Hengsakul Rides a Roller Coaster To Double

Level 3 : 100/300, 0 ante
Peter Hengsakul
Peter Hengsakul

Peter Hengsakul opened the action with a raise to 600 under the gun and action folded around to the big blind, who three-bet to 3,300. Hengsakul thought for about five seconds and then committed the rest of his chips, immediately receiving a call.

Peter Hengsakul: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}
Big Blind: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}

"Ooh!" said a player at the table as the flop came {q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} to give Hengsakul's opponent a set of queens. He began to slide his chair back as the turn came {5-Clubs}, leaving him with just one shot left at a two outer to stay alive. A split second later, and from slightly further away from the table, Hengsakul watched the river {a-Spades} roll onto the felt.

"Ooh!" said the same player once again, responding to the set-over-set fashion in which Hengsakul doubled. His stack was totaled to be 9,600 and after the pot was right, it was sent his way.

Banerjee Earns a Double

Level 3 : 100/300, 0 ante
Dave Banerjee
Dave Banerjee

Dave Banerjee saw action fold to him in the hijack and opened to 700. The cutoff called and the pair of players saw the small blind three-bet to 3,100. Both Banerjee and the cutoff called.

The dealer fanned a flop of {7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and the small blind checked over to Banerjee, who followed suit. The cutoff bet 5,000 and the small blind called. With action back on Banerjee, he thought for around 40 seconds and then announced a check-raise all in, pushing his stack of around 21,500 forward immediately thereafter. The cutoff quickly folded and then the small blind studied Banerjee for about 20 seconds before finding a call.

Dave Banerjee: {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}
Small Blind: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

Banerjee had gotten stacks in after flopping a set of fours and needed to hold against his opponent's aces. The turn {k-Clubs} and river {6-Clubs} were both safe and Banerjee earned the double with his three fours.

Wong Makes Java Pay

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante
Eric Wong
Eric Wong

Action was heads up between Nipun Java in the small blind and Eric Wong, who was in middle position. Java had checked and was facing a bet of 11,000 that was in front of Wong on a board of {3-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{a-Spades}{4-Clubs}. Java was in the tank, and remained there for close to two minutes before finding a call.

Wong showed {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} for quads. Java sent his cards to the muck and then threw his calling chips closer to the center of the table for the dealer to scoop them up and send them to Wong.

"Nice hand," added Java.

Lee Back from the Dead

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
David Lee
David Lee

David Lee had been down to 2,500 before finding his way back to 8,600 going into the big blind. An under-the-gun limp and middle-position raise to 1,300 put action onto Lee, and he three-bet jammed for 8,200. The under-the-gun limper overcalled and the middle-position raiser put out 8,200 as well, and then the two players proceeded to check through a board of {q-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

David Lee: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}
Under the Gun: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Middle Position: (mucked)

Just like that, Lee found himself nearing a starting stack after being on life support just moments prior.

Viincent Bartello

Action was heads up between Byung Shin, who was under the gun, and Vincent Bartello in the hijack with 11,500 in the middle on a board of {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Shin checked to Bartello, who bet 4,500 and was called after the amount was confirmed.

The river came {3-Hearts} and Shin checked again. Bartello fired his last 6,200 into the middle and Shin thought for a bit before finding a call.

Vincent Bartello: {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Byung Shin: {q-Spades}{10-Spades}

Bartello's top two pair bested Shin's top pair and he earned the double to take him back above starting stack. With the lost pot, Shin now finds himself short and in need of some help to stay alive and spin up his stack.

Patrick Beirne
Patrick Beirne

Stanley Lee is among those to have been recently seated off the alternate list and was just seen in the seat previously occupied by Tyler Kolness. Lee opened to 1,500 in middle position and received a call from Patrick Beirne in the hijack.

Action went heads up to a flop of {3-Spades}{a-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and Lee checked. Beirne checked behind and the turn came {j-Clubs}. Lee checked again and Beirne put out a bet of 3,000. Lee studied Beirne for a bit and then called.

The river fell {q-Hearts} and lee checked once more. Beirne gathered chips and placed out a bet of 5,000. Lee once again went into the tank, eventually taking a chip and flicking it into the middle to call.

Upon being called, Beirne tabled {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts} for a flopped set of threes. Lee nodded and sent his cards to the muck.

Sarkisyan Over 200K

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Grigor Sarkisyan
Grigor Sarkisyan

There was at least 8,000 in the middle with heads-up action on a board reading {q-Hearts}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts}{k-Hearts}. Grigor Sarkisyan bet 6,000 in the small blind and sent his opponent in the hijack into the tank. About 45 seconds went by before the player called.

The river fell {j-Hearts} and Sarkisyan reached for chips again. He cut out two stacks of 1,000-chips, each four tall, and slid them forward onto the felt. His opponent went deeper into the tank this time, thinking for two full minutes.

Eventually, the player picked up his cards and flashed {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} before sending them face-up across the felt to the muck. One of the two cards landed directly on the five community cards and shot across the table right to Sarkisyan, who calmly picked it up and tossed it forward to the muck. He then pulled back his bet and exchanged his own two cards for the pot, bringing his stack up to 218,000 in the process.
