MSPT Venetian $1,600 Main Event

Day 1c Started

Welcome To Day 1c of the 2020 MSPT Venetian $1,600 Main Event

Saturday marks Day 1c of the 2020 Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Venetian $1,600 Main Event, the third and final starting flight of the tournament.

Another large field is expected to turn up after the first two days drew a combined 745 runners among them. A total of 214 players have already advanced to Sunday's Day 2, and Day 1b chip leader Jora Beit (345,000) looks to be the one to catch Saturday giving the field 10 one-hour levels to contend with Beit.

Play begins with starting stacks of 30,000 and blinds of 100/100. Big-blind ante comes into effect in Level 4 (200/300/300), and 15-minute breaks will occur at the end of every two levels along with a 45-minute dinner break at the end of Level 6 (approximately 5:40 p.m. local time).

Once again, the starting time is 11:10 a.m., and last Saturday's final flight of the $1,100 Main Event sold out before the scheduled start time. All who wish to avoid lines and alternate lists are advised to arrive and register for the tournament early, though the tournament's deep-stacked structure will allow for plenty of play all throughout Day 1. Unlimited re-entries are available all throughout the day.

PokerNews will be on the floor bringing you updates from the time the cards go into the air until chips are sealed in bags.

Java Wins One With a Set

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante
Nipun Java
Nipun Java

Nipun Java had bet 1,800 from early position into a pot of around double that size on a board of {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Action was heads up and his opponent was on the button found a call.

Java showed {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} for a flopped set of treys and his opponent mucked.

"Eighteen hundred," said the dealer to the player on the button, who threw in the appropriate amount of chips, and Java took down the pot for an early increase to his stack.

"Tens and Kings Are Good"

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante
Adam Demersseman
Adam Demersseman

A player limped in middle position and Adam Demersseman raised to 400 in the hijack with both players behind him having yet to take their seats. The small blind called, as did the limper and postflop action went three ways.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and action checked to Demersseman, who made a continuation-bet of 6,000. The small blind folded and the middle-position player called. Action then checked through the turn {j-Hearts} and river {k-Diamonds} to take the hand to showdown.

The player in middle position showed {8-Spades}{6-Clubs} and shrugged his shoulders as he showed his missed flush draw. Demersseman tabled {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}.

"Tens and kings," announced the dealer. "Tens and kings are good," he added as he shipped the pot to Demersseman
