Le Out Kicks Reichard for Double

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Nghia Le
Nghia Le

Nghia Le raised to 1,600 from late position and only Josh Reichard called from the hijack.

Once the {a-Clubs}{4-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop hit the felt, Le continued for 2,400 and Reichard quickly called bringing the {k-Clubs} turn. Le quickly jammed for 14,000 and Reichard called.

Nghia Le: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Josh Reichard: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Both players flopped top pair but Le had Reichard outkicked and the {8-Clubs} river secured his double-up.

Alexander Straightened Out by Miller

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Michael Miller
Michael Miller

A series of preflop raises saw Matt Alexander get his 11,500 stack in the middle from the hijack and Michael Miller isolated from middle position.

Matt Alexander: {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Michael Miller: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Alexander was behind holding two overs and found them both on the {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{k-Spades} flop but it also gave Miller an open-ended straight draw.

Unfortunately for Alexander, his sweat didn't last long as the {9-Hearts} fell on the turn completing Miller's straight and the {8-Diamonds} completed the board on the river giving Miller the pot while Alexander reentered the tournament.

While PokerNews is here offering live updates from the $1,100 Main Event, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you about some of the side events that have taken place out over the past week during the Winter Poker Classic.

In Event #2: $250 PLO, 186 runners created a $36,429 that was paid out to the top 21 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Blake Anderson (20th - $446), Thai Dinh (18th - $484), George Veazey (15th - $558), Brandon Mead (13th - $707), and John Corrigan (10th - $707).

In the end, it was Minnesota native Alan Carlson who collected every chip in play to capture the first-place $5,868 payday.

Ozturk Dropped by Hanner

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Jonathan Hanner
Jonathan Hanner

There were four players that saw a {6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop and action was checked to Blake Anderson who fired out a pot sized 5,000 bet from middle position.

Jonathan Hanner called from late position and action folded to Umut Ozturk who check-jammed for 17,400 from early position.

Anderson mucked his hand while Hanner called, and the two players tabled their hands.

Umut Ozturk: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Jonathan Hanner: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

Both players held over pairs to the board, but Hanner held the better one and neither the {4-Clubs} turn nor the {2-Diamonds} river changed a thing.

Clock Called on Seitz

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Dan Schmidt raised to 1,600 from the hijack only to call the 4,200 three-bet MSPT Hall of Famer Jason Seitz tossed out from the cutoff.

The {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{q-Hearts} flop saw Schmidt check-call the 4,000 continuation bet from Seitz and the {k-Hearts} fell on the turn putting three hearts on the board.

Schmidt quickly jammed for 33,800 sending Seitz deep into the tank. After a few minutes passed, another player at the tabled called clock on Seitz and he couldn't muster a call as his hand was mucked after a 30-second countdown.
