Day 1b of the MSPT Bally’s Black Hawk $1,110 Main Event attracted a field of 229 entries and ended with 27 remaining after just short of 10 hours of play.
Leading the way at the end of the night was Michael Monetti of Littleton, CO who bagged 464,000. Monetti has a second place finish in the MSPT Main Event in Black Hawk from 2017 and his Day 1 was a good start to try and go that deep again. He was spotted with a large stack late in the night and had a slight dip before surging back to the chip lead before the night ended.
Mike Meyer finished second with 413,000 and just behind him in third was Vincent Moscati who bagged 391,000 after a huge late night surge. The well-known tournament grinder caught pocket aces in the final few hands of the night after two players had shoved in front of him and his hand held to score a huge pot. He would then eliminate another player to end the night and move his stack close to the top.
John Compton (374,000) and Sergio Sanchez (356,000) closed out the top five stacks at bagging.
A few other notable players advanced among the surviving 27, including; Jared Ingles, Scott Stewart, Ricardo Eyzaguirre and one of the most successful MSPT players out there in Aaron Johnson.
Since only 12% of the field made the end of the night there were several who hit the rail. Notable busts who are likely to fire again on Day 1c include; Jessica Vierling, Sarah Stefan and Derek McMaster.
The 27 players who survived the day will join the ten survivors from Day 1a on Sunday for Day 2. There will be one more starting flight tomorrow, Day 1c which is expected to be the largest yet and PokerNews will have the coverage as it gets underway at noon local time.
