Legends Steakhouse

Deadwood, South Dakota is rich with history and the characters in that history, such as “Wild” Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, Preacher Smith, and Seth Bullock, have become legends of yore. The Franklin Hotel is no stranger to legends that have passed through its halls since it opened in 1903, including Babe Ruth, John Wayne, Teddy Roosevelt, Kevin Costner, and William Howard Taft.

With the 2021 MSPT South Dakota State Poker Championship happening right here at the Silverado Franklin Casino, poker legends will be made this weekend. Legendary gamblers and poker players deserve a legendary meal, and fittingly enough, Legends Steakhouse, conveniently located in the lower level of the Franklin Hotel, offers players delectable breakfast and dinner options at reasonable prices.

For breakfast, Legends Steakhouse offers an array of omelets and benedicts, classic fare like steak and eggs, breakfast burritos and biscuits and gravy, and fun, exciting options like red velvet waffles and Rumchata french toast. If you’re looking for a morning libation, the “Meaty Mary” includes some bacon with your bloody mary for a savory, delicious start to your morning.

Dinner gives diners the complete steakhouse experience, with intriguing appetizers such as escargot, duck wings, and lobster bisque. Entrees include roasted chicken breast with apple walnut chutney, shrimp crepes with white wine creme sauce, and lobster tail with drawn butter. But the main course has to be the steaks; and with a 21-day dry aged in-house cut of your favorite filets, ribeyes, strips and sirloins, to name a few, the steak lover will not be disappointed by the selection and flavor of their favorite cut of beef.

So if you find yourself with downtime during the MSPT South Dakota State Poker Championship, head over to Legends Steakhouse at the Franklin Hotel and indulge in the rich history and delicious cuisine of South Dakota.

Smith Doubles in Battle of the Blinds

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante

After a preflop raising war in the blinds that built a 10,000+ chip pot, Mike Nisselius in the small blind and Alex Smith in the big blind saw a flop of {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}.

Nisselius continued for 10,000 more and Smith moved over top for his final 16,900. Nisselius called and was in bad shape.

Alex Smith: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Mike Nisselius: {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}

The dealer put out the {6-Clubs} on the turn and the {a-Clubs} on the river, giving Smith the win and the double up.

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante
Dan Bekavac
Dan Bekavac

Dan Bekavac alerted the PokerNews reporting team of a beat he took before break that cost him some chips.

Preflop on the button, Bekavac called an 1,100 chip raise and call with {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}

On a {j-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop, the opening raiser continued for 2,500 and was called by Bekavac and the other player.

On the {3-Clubs} turn, the original raiser bet another 2,500 and with the nut straight, Bekavac raised to 11,300. The other player moved all-in for 15,000, Bekavac and the original raiser both called.

On the river {j-Diamonds}, the original raiser checked and Bekavac bet 6,000, which was called.

The all-in player showed {7-}{7-} for a winning full house, while the other player showed {k-}{k-}.

"Magic" Mike Piles Over Half His Table

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

After an opening raise in early position to 800, Josh Jackson three-bet to 1,600 from the cutoff. The button and small blind called, and Mike Wilkinson, who has requested to be known as "Magic" MIke, piled his entire stack of approximately 35,000 over top of everyone.

The original raiser folded and with action back on him, Jackson gave his decision some thought, as a call would be for almost his entire stack.

After about a minute of deliberation, Jackson folded, as did the rest of the table, giving "Magic" Mike the pot.

Wlkinson turned over {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} and asked Jackson what he folded. Jackson replied that he folded queens.
