Bekavac's Stack Booming Again

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante
Dan Bekavac
Dan Bekavac

Dan Bekavac was a late casualty in Day 1a, but he's built the biggest stack in the room so far in Day 1b.

He passed along a pair of recent hand to the live reporting team that helped send him into the chip lead.

According to the four-time MSPT champion, he raised in early position with {6-Spades}{3-Spades} and got 6 callers.

He then checked a flop of {8-Spades}{5-Spades}{j-Hearts} and saw a player behind him bet 400, followed by a raise to 2,000 and a call.

Bekavac then raised to 10,000 and got a call from the original bettor and one other caller.

The turn brought the {10-Diamonds} and Bekavac bet 7,000. With just 1,800 behind, his first opponent called and the other folded.

The river brought the {a-Spades} to give Bekavac his flush and eliminate his opponent.

Shortly after that, Bekavac got pocket kings in preflop against his opponent's ace-king, and after a clean runout, another 32,000 was added to Bekavac's stack, which has now hit the 200,000 chip mark.

Baumann Cracks Wicks' Aces

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante
Patricia Baumann
Patricia Baumann

With approximately 18,000 in the pot on a flop of {8-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades}, action was checked to Jessica Anderson on the button, who bet 6,000. Ty Wicks then check-raised all in for a little over 21,000.

Patricia Baumann then moved all in for about 16,000 from under the gun. Anderson folded to preserve her remaining chips, and Wicks asked Baumann if they were chopping. That would not be the case.

Patricia Baumann: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Ty Wicks: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

Baumann's set of jacks had Wicks crushed and the runout of {9-Clubs}{6-Hearts} brought no help to Wicks, who surrendered most of his stack to Baumann, before being eliminated shortly afterward.

Paulson Sends First Player Out the Door

Level 1 : 100/100, 100 ante
Jeff Paulson
Jeff Paulson

Not ten minutes into the day, "all-in and a call" was heard at table 7 as Jeff Paulson has eliminated the first player of the day.

On a flop of {8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, a player in late position bet 1,200, a player in early position check-raised to 3,500, and Paulson called the 3,500. The late position player then moved all in for almost 25,000. The player in early position folded after some thought, but Paulson had an easy decision and called.

Opponent: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Jeff Paulson: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Paulson's flopped full house held as the dealer put out the {a-Hearts} and {a-Clubs} to complete the board, giving Paulson a quick double up and then some to start the day.
