After 10 hours of play, Day 1a of the MSPT Grand Falls $1,110 Main Event has come to a close and surviving players have bagged chips for Sunday's Day 2 restart. Mikiyo Aoki bagged the most with an impressive 684,000 chips.

A total of 231 players fired today's flight. Play was ended before the scheduled fifteen levels when 12% of the field was reached, meaning 27 players will have tomorrow off before returning for Day 2 on Sunday.

Aoki played steady throughout the day, playing with a healthy stack for much of the day. The last few levels, though, were where she really built momentum that led to her chip lead. She made a big call on the river with a pair of sixes, picked off another bluff with a weak ace, and even managed to win when she got it in behind.

Players will return on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and join the players from tomorrow's flight.

Blindert Gets River Value

Level 14 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Hanner and Blindert
Hanner and Blindert

A player in early position raised and picked up two callers, Jonathan Hanner on the button and Luke Blindert in the small blind.

The flop came out {10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and all three players checked the street.

On the {9-Hearts} turn, Blindert led from the small blind for 18,000. The original raiser folded, but Hanner made the call on the button.

The river fell the {10-Clubs} and Blindert bet 25,000 fairly quickly. Hanner thought for a few minutes before the clock was called. Before the floorman could get into the count, Hanner made the call.

Blindert showed {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the best hand as Hanner mucked.

Bohn Gets There, Now Over Half a Million

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Blake Bohn
Blake Bohn

Blake Bohn raised to 6,000 from early position and only found one caller, Chris Burke in the big blind.

"Got anything?" asked Bohn, to no response.

The flop showed up {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Burke checked to Bohn who continued for 10,000. After some thought, Burke slid his whole stack of 131,000 into the middle.

"I don't know what I'm supposed to do here," said Bohn. "Why are you shoving?" Bohn said out loud.

"I was happy with it," said Burke.

"You're happy with it?" reiterated Bohn.

"Yeah, with my stack, that was my thought process," said Burke.

"I don't know if I can fold," said Bohn. He didn't fold, he put the chips in.

Chris Burke: {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Blake Bohn: {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

"You got a five? So any queen, ten, or club, right?" Bohn narrated.

The turn was none of those cards in the {k-Hearts}, though it added some counterfeit outs. The river was the {8-Clubs}, though, giving Bohn the flush and the winner to vault him to the top of the leaderboard.

Action began on the turn in a heads-up pot between Dave Sanderson and Beau "Don K. Nado" Wilshire. The board showed {7-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{8-Spades} and about 28,000 was in the pot.

Sanderson bet 8,000 and Wilshire made the call in position.

The river landed the {2-Clubs} and Sanderson quickly bet 17,000. Wilshire seemed sure he was beat, but made the call, even placing the chips in front of his opponent. Sanderson rolled over {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}.

"Fours?" said Wilshire, realizing his {a-Clubs}{6-Spades} was good for the pot.

Action picked up on the flop with two players getting all their chips in the middle preflop. Jesse Bowman had the slightly bigger stack, but about 90,000 chips were up for grabs.

Opponent: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Jesse Bowman: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

The river brought Bowman the miracle {k-Spades} for the set and the winner to eliminate his opponent and jump to near the top of the leaderboard.

Luke Blindert
Luke Blindert

An early-position player limped in, prompting Luke Blindert to do the same from middle position. Action folded to the small blind who bumped it up to 2,200. Both the early-position player and Blindert made the call.

The flop came out {a-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. The original raiser checked, the early-position limper bet 2,500. Blindert raised it up to 10,500.

Action folded back to the flop bettor, but he didn't think long before folding.

"Royal flush," announced Blindert, showing {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, for 80% of the royal, but it sounded like he knew it was coming.

Action began on the flop in a multi-way pot. The board showed {j-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{a-Clubs}.

From under the gun, Aaron Johnson bet 500 into the pot and only found one caller, the player in the big blind.

The turn was the {2-Clubs} and Johnson wasted no time putting out another bet when checked to, tossing in 1,400. Again the big blind called.

The river brought the {3-Clubs} and action checked to Johnson one last time. He fired 3,000. To his surprise, his opponent check-raised to 7,500.

Johnson thought it over for a bit before shrugging and tossing in the call.

His opponent turned over {a-Spades}{q-Spades} but that was no good as Johnson had top-two pair with {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}.

Jason Darland
Jason Darland

Action picked up on the flop in a heads-up pot with about 2,000 in the middle. The board showed {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. Jason Darland was on the button and saw his opponent bet 1,200 from middle position. Darland went for the call.

The dealer revealed the {7-Hearts} for the turn card, again the middle-position player bet, the number was 2,500. Once more, Darland elected to call to take the hand to the final street.

The river landed the {8-Clubs} to complete the board. Another bet of 4,000 came from middle position. Darland thought for a bit before moving his whole stack of 15,600 into the middle.

"Clubs, huh?" said Darland's opponent. After a while, he laid it down and Darland took down the pot.

*****

A couple of hands later, Darland tangled with the same opponent on a flop of {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. That played led for 2,500 into a pot of 1,700. In late position, Darland raised to 7,000. After some thought, his opponent made the call.

The {9-Spades} hit the turn and Darland moved all in after his opponent checked, now having him well covered. His opponent called quickly.

At-risk opponent: {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Jason Darland: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Darland already had the check mark as the {2-} fell on the river and his opponent was heading out the door.
