After 10 hours of play, Day 1a of the MSPT Grand Falls $1,110 Main Event has come to a close and surviving players have bagged chips for Sunday's Day 2 restart. Mikiyo Aoki bagged the most with an impressive 684,000 chips.

A total of 231 players fired today's flight. Play was ended before the scheduled fifteen levels when 12% of the field was reached, meaning 27 players will have tomorrow off before returning for Day 2 on Sunday.

Aoki played steady throughout the day, playing with a healthy stack for much of the day. The last few levels, though, were where she really built momentum that led to her chip lead. She made a big call on the river with a pair of sixes, picked off another bluff with a weak ace, and even managed to win when she got it in behind.

Another player who made a late push was Dave Sanderson. He made a set early in the day to build a nice stack, made a nice move in the middle of the day, and closed out strong to bag 426,000.

Players will return on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and join the players from tomorrow's flight.

That does it for today's coverage. PokerNews will be on hand the rest of the weekend to follow this one to what is sure to be an exciting conclusion.

Play Ended for the Night

Level 14 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Day 1a has come to a close with 27 players, or 12% of the field reached with 4:54 seconds remaining in level 14. A full recap will be published shortly.

Supercooler Busts Two, Ends the Night Early

Level 14 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

An early position player raised to 11,000 before immediately getting three-bet by Chris Moen to 31,000. Action folded to Chad Himmelspach who four-bet all in to 152,000. Both players made the call to go to a three-way runout.

Opponent: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Chris Moen: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Chad Himmelspach: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

"This could get ugly," said a tablemate.

That prediction was very true, as the flop showed up {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{10-Hearts} to give Himmselspach trips. The turn and river were the {8-Hearts} and {2-Diamonds}, Himmselpach had both players covered and eliminated them both at once.

That brought the field to 27, or 12%, so play ended in level 14.

Aoki Makes Another Great Call

Level 14 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Action picked up on the river in a heads-up pot. The full board was {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and well over 100,000 was in the pot.

Chris Moen put out a bet of 85,000 and action was on Mikiyo Aoki. She thought for a while before deciding to match the bet.

Moen shook his head and was hesitant to show, Aoki obliged by turning over {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, good enough to take down the massive pot and bring her near the chip lead.

Blindert Gets River Value

Level 14 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Hanner and Blindert
Hanner and Blindert

A player in early position raised and picked up two callers, Jonathan Hanner on the button and Luke Blindert in the small blind.

The flop came out {10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and all three players checked the street.

On the {9-Hearts} turn, Blindert led from the small blind for 18,000. The original raiser folded, but Hanner made the call on the button.

The river fell the {10-Clubs} and Blindert bet 25,000 fairly quickly. Hanner thought for a few minutes before the clock was called. Before the floorman could get into the count, Hanner made the call.

Blindert showed {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the best hand as Hanner mucked.

Bohn Gets There, Now Over Half a Million

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Blake Bohn
Blake Bohn

Blake Bohn raised to 6,000 from early position and only found one caller, Chris Burke in the big blind.

"Got anything?" asked Bohn, to no response.

The flop showed up {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Burke checked to Bohn who continued for 10,000. After some thought, Burke slid his whole stack of 131,000 into the middle.

"I don't know what I'm supposed to do here," said Bohn. "Why are you shoving?" Bohn said out loud.

"I was happy with it," said Burke.

"You're happy with it?" reiterated Bohn.

"Yeah, with my stack, that was my thought process," said Burke.

"I don't know if I can fold," said Bohn. He didn't fold, he put the chips in.

Chris Burke: {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Blake Bohn: {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

"You got a five? So any queen, ten, or club, right?" Bohn narrated.

The turn was none of those cards in the {k-Hearts}, though it added some counterfeit outs. The river was the {8-Clubs}, though, giving Bohn the flush and the winner to vault him to the top of the leaderboard.

King-High Call Good for Lauder

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

Keith Lauder raised to 7,000 from the button and picked up one caller from the small blind.

The flop showed up {3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Action checked in flow to Lauder who continued for 6,000. His opponent made the call.

The turn brought the {3-Spades} and both players checked.

The river paired the board again when the {10-Spades} hit. The small blind led for 11,000. Lauder thought for a while and put in the call.

The small blind shook his head and rolled over {q-Hearts}{9-} and Lauder showed {k-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for the hero call and the winner.

"Let's go Keith," said tablemate Luke Blindert. "It's hard to make a pair, huh?" he said.
