Truong Flops a Straight

Level 7 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Action began on the river with Brian Truong moving all in from the hijack. The board showed {9-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}.

There was about 23,000 in the pot, and Truong's opponent was the effective stack with about 14,000 behind.

"I'm trying to decide if you have a straight or not," said Truong's opponent. "I just have top pair, I don't know if I want to put all my money in with top pair. On the other hand, I was already going to rebuy multiple times." His opponent talked himself into a call.

"I've got a jack," said Truong, showing {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for the flopped straight to take down the pot.

Johnson Wins With the Ladies

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

And under-the-gun player raised to 1,800 before Russell Johnson bumped it up to 3,800 from middle position. Action folded back to the opener who made the call.

The flop showed up {2-Clubs}{2-Spades}{10-Spades} and under the gun checked in flow. Johnson continued for 3,300. His opponent check-raised to 6,500. Johnson fairly quickly three-bet the flop to 19,500.

"You got aces or kings?" chuckled his opponent. Johnson let out a little laugh.

Eventually, his opponent did fold, showing {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. Johnson showed in kind, revealing {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for the overpair.

Moen Gets Respect

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Mark Hodge opened from under the gun to 2,300 and the player on his immediate left made the call. In middle position, Chris Moen three-bet up to 13,800.

"Do you want a call?" asked Hodge as he contemplated. "Are you scared of all this?" he pointed at his smaller-than-Moen's chip stack. Moen just shrugged.

Hodge eventually folded, as did the player in between.

"Do you want to see?" asked Moen. Hodge did, and Moen showed {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.

"I was supposed to get a read on you," laughed Hodge as Moen raked his pot.

Calverley Drills Turn, Gets the Double

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Action picked up on the turn in a heads-up pot with a board of {8-Hearts}{j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} showing.

Calverley sat in position and saw his opponent bet 10,000 into the growing pot. Calverley moved all in for about 38,000. His opponenet didn't like it, but did decided to put the chips in, having Calverley covered by a bit.

Jeremy Calverley: {q-Spades}{10-Spades}
Opponent: {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

Calverley drilled the straight to overtake the trips of his opponent, but had to dodge full house outs on the river. The {a-Hearts} was clean and Calverley locked up the double.

"I knew that was a bad card, I almost folded," said his opponent. "I thought sometimes he might have jack-ten."

Ethridge a Big Stack After Aces Versus Kings

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Elizabeth Ethridge shared a hand after the fact that has resulted in her being one of the room's big stacks.

She tangled with another big stack at the table who had a very similar stack to herself at the time. She had aces and her opponent had kings.

The board came nine-high with all low cards and the two got all the chips in the middle. Ethridge's aces held and the cooler gave her piles of chips as we near the end of level nine.
