Vang Navigates Tricky Spot

Level 3 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Just before the break, a big, four-way hand took place.

A player in middle position opened to 800, two players called, a late position player, and the player in the small blind. Steve Zang saw all the action in front of him and put in the three-bet to 3,100. All three players called to go to a flop four-ways in the swelling pot.

The dealer put out {4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Vang bet 3,700 when checked to, the original opener and the small blind both callled.

On the {7-Hearts} turn, action checked to Vang again. After thinking for quite some time, he decided to check, and the player in position checked as well.

The river fell the {3-Clubs} and action checked to Vang. On the final street, he picked up the betting with a bet of 7,500. Action folded back to the big blind player who moved all in for about 22,000 effective, having Vang slightly covered.

After a tortuous time thinking it through, Vang made the call.

"Good call," said his opponent, who showed {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the missed flush draw.

Vang showed {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for the overpair.

"I wish you were a better player," said his opponent.

Vang laughed that comment off as the winner of the pot and stacked his new chips.
