MSPT FireKeepers Trophy

The last of the three flights for the Mid-States Poker Tour $1,100 No-Limit Hold’em at FireKeepers Casino in Battle Creek, Michigan begins today at 12 p.m. Today looks to be the biggest single flight in all of Michigan poker history.

While last time’s final flight got 697 entrants, yesterday’s Day 1b got 762 entrants and this flight already progressed to the alternate list before the day even started. Many players are expected to fire today including Kyna England, Aaron Massey, Ralph Massey, and Kevin Maahs.

The players will sit down with 25,000 in starting chips with blinds at 100/100 with a 100 big blind ante and levels going up every 40 minutes. After every three levels, there will be a 10-minute break. After Level 9 there will be a 40-minute dinner break, after which the players will come back, play an additional three levels until registration closes. After which, the players will play three more levels and then bag up for the day at the end of level 15 or if the field comes down to 12% of the remaining players.

This is the player's final chance to get a piece of this $1,000,000 guaranteed prizepool which is currently bigger and still growing. The players who bag all flight will reunite on Sunday the 15th at 11 am to play down to a winner. Stay tuned to PokerNews for continued updates on the flights, the second day, and the eventual winner of the tournament.

The turn came a {4-Spades} which saw the big blind size up to 7,000 which got a fold from Schutten and a a call from Arreguin.

The river came an {a-Clubs} and the big blind checked this time. Arreguin moved all-in for 12,700 and the big blind went into the tank. After some thought he folded and Arreguin took down an early pot.

Brandon Poe raised to 400 in early position and from one seat over Dennis Brady raised to 1,200. All other action folded and both players saw the flop.

The flop came out {k-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and Poe checked to Brady who bet 1,000. Poe raised to 2,600 which Brady responded too by moving all-in for 26,000 and Poe snap-called.

Dennis Brady: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Brandon Poe: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Both players had flopped sets, but it was Poe's that had Brady in tough shape. The turn came out the {q-Clubs} which flipped the script putting Brady in the lead. The river reversed fortunes again as the {k-Spades} rolled off on the river and Poe managed to eliminate Brady in the mother of all coolers.

Jamie Kerstetter
Jamie Kerstetter

Poker commentator Jamie Kerstetter raised to 600 from under-the gun and from one seat to her right, another player raised to 2,000.

Action folded back around to Kerstetter who four-bet to 6,500, putting the action back on her opponent who went into the tank.

He continued to repeat to himself "this is so sick," and "I can't believe this." After some time he ended up declaring "ok, I'll fold my pocket kings to you," as he showed {k-Hearts}{k-Spades} going into the muck.
