Snyder Takes Overall Tournament Lead, Trost Alive To Defend Title
A total of 370 entrants added their names to the list of tournament entries into The Mid-States Poker Tour Riverside $1,100 Main Event in Riverside, Michigan. The total number of 749, adding to a total prize pool of $726,530. Only 48 survived the day, meaning that the 96 players will return tomorrow from all three of the flights to play for the title. A total of 81 players will be guaranteed $2,030, with the first-place prize being $145,006.
Leading Day 1c and the overall tournament is Asa Snyder who ended the day with an even 600,000. Snyder found himself winning two massive pots, one in which he had pocket kings against his opponent’s pocket nines, and in a small blind to big blind confrontation where his ace-nine out-flopped the pocket tens of his opponent. Unlike the previous flight, only Snyder crossed the half-a-million chip mark and he looks to take his big stack into the day tomorrow.

Also surviving into the second day of the tournament with big stacks were Albert Morrow (496,000), David Kenniston (431,000), and Arturas Astrauskas (404,000). Others that survived the flight included Phil Mader (296,000), Jason Crews (223,000), Andy Rogowski (166,000), Michael Puccio (152,000), Jill Bryant (149,000), Matt Alexander (147,000), and William “The Legend” Rothschild (58,000).
Defending champion Craig Trost survived the day with a 197,000. Trost won some key pots early on and continued to hover around the 150,000 range for the majority of the day. A title defense of this event would put him into the MSPT Player of the Year contention. Miles Barnum sits at fourth place on the MSPT player of the year list and found his way to a bag for 260,000. He will join Dan Bekavac and Josh Reichard tomorrow where their race for player of the year will continue.
John Dennehey and CJ Peake will be unable to get any points for their own player of the year prospects in this tournament, given both fell throughout the day. Others who’s days came to an unfortunate end included Michael Berk, Aaron Johnson, Rob Wazwaz, Marquez Davis, Bryan Skreens, Daniel Hamm, DJ Buckley and Sarah Stefan who was eliminated on the last hand of the night.
The 96 will return on Sunday at 11 am. The clock will return to 10:10 left on level 14 with blinds at 2,000/4,000 and a 4,000 ante with 10:10 left on the level.
