The final opening flight of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Sycuan Showdown Series Main Event gets underway today at 3 pm PT, with another large field expected to help blast the prize pool well past its $300,000 guarantee here at the beautiful Sycuan Casino Resort just outside San Diego, California.

After 79 players fired Day 1a on Thursday, more than double that came out for Friday’s second flight as it attracted 182 entries. Out of those combined flights, 30 players have advanced to Sunday’s final day with many more likely to join them from this flight.

Rall Takes an Early Pot From Pace

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

On a flop of {9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}, MSPT Sycuan January Main Event champ Gianluca Pace led from the big blind for 2,000 and was called by Chris Rall in middle position and Massoud Eskandari on the button.

The trio checked the {5-Spades} turn, and Pace also checked the {3-Hearts} river, leading to a bet of 8,000 from Rall. Eskandari folded, then after some though pace pitched his cards to the muck as well.

Rall happily flipped over {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a missed flush draw that turned into a winning straight instead.
