Wendroff Scores Back-to-Back Busts

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Steve Wendroff
Steve Wendroff

Day 1c chip leader Steve Wendroff is leaping up the leaderboard after back-to-back busts.

In the first hand, Charly Peterson raised to 38,000 from early position and Wendroff shoved behind with Peterson covered. Peterson thought for a moment but called with his last 100,000.

Charly Peterson: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Steve Wendroff: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{7-Spades} and the queens held to score Wendroff a big early double.

Moments later, a big pot was building and Nick Grippo fired 15,000 at a {4-Spades}{10-Hearts}{j-Clubs} board. Wendroff called from late position and the turn was {q-Clubs}.

Grippo shoved the turn and Wendroff called quickly, turning over {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} for the Broadway straight. Grippo had {4-}{4-}, and the river {7-Diamonds} brought no help. Wendroff scored another knockout to move above the 600K mark in the first moments of Day 2.

Lena Evans is making moves up the leaderboard and putting pressure on her opponents.

With 75,000 in the pot and {10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{5-Spades} on the board, Evans shoved for 143,000 and Roni Moshe went into the tank.

After a few minutes, Moshe got away from it and awarded Evans the pot.

Moments later, Evans clashed with Rodger Johnson.

Johnson raised to 22,000 from middle position and action folded to Evans for a call from the big blind.

The flop was {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Evans bet 28,000. Johnson called and the turn was {2-Spades}.

Evans check-called on the turn when Rodgers bet 33,000. The river came {5-Diamonds}.

Both players checked the river and Evans turned over {k-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. Johnson flashed {6-Diamonds} and tossed the losing hand in the muck.
