Nguyen And Skolnick Top Day 1c of $1,600 MSPT Venetian

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Cory Skolnick
Cory Skolnick

After three flights throughout the course of the week, a total of 239 players will be returning for Day 2 to play for the massive $2,342,700 prize pool and the hefty first place prize of $360,670. Flight 1c saw the biggest turnout by far with a whopping 940 entrants throughout the course of the day.

Flight 1c came to a close with Thien Nguyen taking the biggest stack with him at 565,000. Nguyen was a chip leader in the very early levels of the day and managed to maintain the chips for the majority of the day. The final level saw him win a massive three-way all in when his suited wheel ace rivered a straight to eliminate two players, he looks to be one top five in stacks beginning Day 2.

Also bagging large was Cory Skolnick who ended the day with 547,000. Skolnick maintained a larger stack, but towards the end of the day, he coolered Aaron Van Blarcum to shoot up the leaderboards when Van Blarcum’s top two could not best Skolnick’s hand. He also comes into the following day with a top ten chip stack and will be looking for a career best score.

Joining them from this flight included Sebastien Grax (340,000), Ryan Scully (321,000), Frederik Brink (289,000), Ben Underwood (148,000), James Collopy (141,000), Femi Fashakin (106,000), Angelina Rich (106,000), and WSOP 2017 Main Event Runner-up Dan Ott (100,000). Players who were not as fortunate included; Mike Del Vecchio, Brock Wilson, Justin Saliba, Dillion Ott, Jonathan Depa and Jordan Cristos. With another Mid-States Poker Tour coming up in the near future, it is likely that many of these players will appear once more this month at The Venetian Las Vegas.

Players will return at 11:00 a.m. for the second day of The Mid-States Poker Tour $1,600 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event. Blinds will return at 3,000/6,000 with a 6,000 big blind ante. Each level will last 40 minutes with a 15-minute break after every three levels. Stay tuned to PokerNews for all updates regarding the Mid-States Poker Tour.
