Lyons Finds the River Save

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

After a cutoff open and a button three-bet to 7,000, Pat Lyons woke up with a cold four-bet shove for 43,700 in the big blind. The opener mucked but the second player snap-called with {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}.

Lyons was in bad shape with {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} but got some help with a {9-}{7-}{6-} flop. The {7-} turn missed him but the {10-} on the river gave him a winning full house.

Vanstrom Improves, Survives

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Three players saw a {3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop and Derek McMaster had 7,000 in front of him in middle position. Jason Vanstrom was all in for 17,200 and an early player had 75,000 in the middle. McMaster threw his hands in the air and thought a bit but mucked.

Vanstrom: {6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Opponent: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}

The {6-Hearts} turn gave Vanstrom trips and a near-certain double. The {a-Diamonds} didn't trouble him on the river.

McMaster Toasted

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Derek McMaster's time among the bigger stacks was short-lived. He just lost the last of his money with {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} against {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} on a {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{9-Spades} board. We didn't see when McMaster's remaining 30K went in, but he headed to the rail toting his beer with a smile.

"Derek, what the hell?" his neighbor teased. "If you were gonna donk them off, why didn't you give them to me?"

Cristos Loses Last Crumbs

Level 11 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Jordan Cristos was down to 5,000 in the big blind and stuck the remaining 4K he had left after posting the ante in there versus an early opener. His {k-Spades}{9-Spades} was dominated by {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}. He called for a nine but the {a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts} delivered none, and the turn and river likewise.

Brown Soaring

Level 11 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Justin Brown looks to have the chip lead as the tournament winds toward its final break.

Meanwhile, several players have run dry on chips, including Bill Kachel, who got the last 17K in with {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} dominating a player with {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} only to see a king on the flop send him packing.

Zamani Catches a Bluffer, Loses Anyway

Level 11 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

"You got anything?" Martin Zamani wondered as he tanked facing a roughly pot-sized bet of 15,000.

He was on the button against Brandon Eisen, who had bet from early position into a completed board of {5-Spades}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}{a-Clubs}{j-Spades}. After a moment, Zamani reached out and placed the chips right by Eisen's bet as if to signal he was giving them to his opponent.

Eisen shook his head and seemed reluctant to show, then turned over {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. It was good, however.

"If it was a cash game, I might have mucked," he said sheepishly as he stacked chips he clearly didn't expect to win.
