Welcome to Day 1a of the $1,100 Mid-States Poker Tour Main Event at Venetian Las Vegas. Cards go in the air at 11:10 a.m. for the first of two starting flights in this two-day event.
The $250,000 guarantee kicks off a full week of MSPT action at the Venetian, with a $1,600 Main Event to follow on Thursday, November 3 that guarantees $750,000. Today's surviving players will return on Thursday at 11 a.m. for the Day 2 finale.
The tour is coming off of a stop in Riverside, Iowa that drew 749 entries for a prize pool of $726,530 Lee Rzentkowski took home the top prize of $145,006. MSPT last visited Las Vegas over Labor Day weekend, and PokerGO commentator Jeff Platt outlasted 470 entries on his run to a $100,804 victory.
Players will start with 25,000 chips and play 40-minute levels. Registration remains open until approximately 5:55 p.m. local time and players can reenter as many times as they wish during either of the opening flights.

Mike Hack raised to 300 and a player in the cutoff called before the big blind came along. The flop was . The big blind checked and Hack continued for 500. The cutoff called and the big blind tossed in chips to see on the turn. The big blind checked once again and Hack bet another 1,500. Both players folded and Hack picked up the early pot.
One hand later, a player opened from under the gun and Chance Kornuth made it 1,000. Action folded around and Kornuth's opponent called to see on the flop. The under-the-gun player check-called a bet of 700 from Kornuth and the turn was . His opponent checked again and then gave up the pot when Kornuth bet 2,500.

MSPT Hall of Famer Josh Reichard leads the Season 13 Player of the Year race with just a few events to go. Reichard recently earned his spot in the MSPT Hall of Fame with his 26th Main Event cash at the last MSPT Venetian Main Event.
He's coming off an eighth-place finish at last week's MSPT Riverside event.

Action was heads up with around 2,000 in the pot and on the board when Mike Hack bet 1,800 and his opponent check-called from the button. The river was and both players checked. Hack turned over to win with a pair of kings while his opponent mucked .

Action was three ways with a full board of with an all-in player on the button. Michael McCauley bet 1,600 into the side pot from the big blind and an opponent in middle position called.
McCauley turned over to take the pot with three kings and the all-in player showed before he gathered his things and made his way out of the tournament area. The middle position player mucked his losing hand.
