Day 1a of the Mid-Stakes Poker Tour (MSPT) has reached its conclusion with Sean Banahan emerging on top after amassing an impressive 587,000 before bagging and tagging. Behind him, but still among the leaders going into Day 2 are Alfonso Timoteo (425,000) and Malik Zaman (395,000).
Day 1a saw a total of 251 entries by the time late-registration ended. Of those, just 34 remain. Notables who remain in contention include Nadya Magnus (122,000), Jared Jaffee (166,000), Jordan Cristos (187,500), and Faraz Jaka (34,500), who entered late and managed to nurse a short stack throughout the day.
Notables who entered and fell short include WSOP Main-Event winner Joe McKeehen, Aaron Massey, Benjamin Moon, and Jerod Smith.
All players who failed to bag today will have plenty of chances going forward, as the MSPT $1,100 Main Event ($1.5M GTD) will hold three more day 1's on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday consecutively.
