Welcome to Day 1a of the 2021 MSPT Venetian $1,100 Buy-In, $1.5 Million GTD Main Event

MSPT
MSPT

The Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) is back in Las Vegas as part of its 2021 season with another pair of back-to-back Main Events! This time around, play has transitioned from The Venetian Poker Room to The Palazzo Gaming Floor for the duration of the tournaments.

This week's event features a buy-in of $1,100 and a whopping guaranteed prize pool of $1.5 million, which is the highest guarantee thus far of the 2021 MSPT season.

Day 1a is set to begin at 11:10 a.m. local time and is the first of four starting days that will take place consecutively through Saturday. Players will begin with 25,000 in chips and levels will be 40 minutes throughout the tournament. Blinds will begin at 100/100 and a big-blind ante will be introduced at the start of level four (100/300/300). Players will get 15-minute breaks at the end of every three levels and a 45-minute dinner break at the end of level nine.

Late registration is available until 6:25 p.m. and players will have the option re-enter an unlimited amount of times before then. Fifteen levels are scheduled to be played today, which means action will conclude around 10:40 p.m. The surviving players will bag and tag their chips and advance to Sunday's Day 2. Play will be nine-handed as tables no longer have dividers on them. Fully vaccinated patrons may choose not to wear a mask.

The last time the MSPT was in in Vegas, it was Johnny Oshana who bested a 908-person field and took down the $1K buy-in Mid-States Poker Tour Poker Bowl at Venetian after a four-way chop with Jordan Cristos, Seungmook Jung and Joris Springael. With such a large prize pool for this week's event, we expect to see plenty of big names throughout the starting days.

Stay tuned as PokerNews will be on the floor bringing you updates on the action from the felt in Las Vegas!
