Johnson Scoops With a Set

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Rodger Johnson
Rodger Johnson

Rodger Johnson opened to 1,800 from middle position and was called by the player in the big blind.

The flop came {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and both players checked.

The big blind checked again on the {4-Clubs}, prompting a bet of 2,200 from Johnson. His opponent then check-raised to 8,000 and Johnson flatted.

The {5-Hearts} completed the board and both players checked. The player in the big blind revealed {k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a busted flush draw and Johnson tabled {a-Hearts}{a-Spades} for a flopped set of aces and scooped the pot.

The {6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades} runout was clean for McKeehen, who doubled up and then some to 53,000.

Eyal Bensimhon

Eyal Bensimhon opened to 2,200 from the lojack and action folded around to the player in the big blind, who three-bet to 6,000. Bensimhon called and the two saw a flop of {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}

The player in the big blind continued for 12,000 and Bensimhon announced "all-in" before sliding his stack into the middle. His opponent called off for less and hands were tabled.

Bensimhon: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Big blind: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Bensimhon had flopped middle set to assume a commanding lead. The {9-Clubs} turn and {2-Diamonds} river failed to improve Bensimhon's opponent and he was eliminated.
