Day 1b Started
Yesterday, Day 1a of the Mid-Stakes Poker Tour $1,100 ($1.5M GTD) Main Event saw 251 entrants duke it out until there were just 34 remaining. When it was all said and done, Sean Banahan stood tall as the chip leader after amassing 587,000 in chips. Today, a fresh batch of players will take their chances in pursuit of an MSPT title and the lions share of a guaranteed $1.5 million prize pool.
Play is set to begin at 11:10 a.m. local time. Players will begin with 25,000 in chips and levels will be 40-minutes throughout the tournament. Blinds will begin at 100/100 and a big-blind ante will be introduced at the start of level four (100/300/300). Players will get 15-minute breaks at the end of every three levels and a 45-minute dinner break at the end of level nine.
Late registration is available until 6:25 p.m. and players will have the option re-enter an unlimited amount of times before then. Fifteen levels are scheduled to be played, which means action will conclude at around 10:40 p.m. The surviving players will bag and tag their chips and advance to Sunday's Day 2. On a board reading , Joey Senescu led out for 4,000 from the big blind. Anthony Marquez responded by raising to 10,000 from the button, which put Senescu deep into the tank.
A player eventually called the clock on Senescu, who deliberated a bit longer before mucking pocket aces face up.
Marquez, who won WSOP 2017 Event #16: $1,500 No Limit Hold'em 6-Handed, is off to a good start and is looking to make deep run in today's event.
